Hello,
Just picked up two new leftover 2006 Fusion 700's, which I hear are torque monsters, and I am getting ready to do some studs. I haven't studded in years so I know things have changed a bit and would appreciate some advice.
I've read on woody's site they recommend anywhere from 144-168 for trail to intermediate riding. I do the occiasional race with my buddies on the lake and cross the roads along the trail, other than that it is all snow. Of course the price between the 144 and 168 is more of a hit to the pocket book when doing 2 sleds SOOO was hoping to get away with the 144.
What are your opinions on brand, type, number of studs etc. For example, stud boy or woody's? If you say woody's do you choose Signature, Mega bite or gold digger etc etc etc. So many choices my brain is spining !
I THANK YOU for your help and advice!

Studs should almost be a giving for the 700 fuse as they tend to spin a lot.(noticed this when riding my buddys 700) I think 144 should do.... After you get studs hang on because those 700's are torque monsters and with studs I can't imagine the better grab it would have compared to just a 1 1/4 ripsaw.
Polaris Pro-X=Sledgehammer, and every bit as tough as one!

I run 192 woody's signature series studs on my Storm. They are very nice and reasonably priced studs. Make sure that you get aluminum backers NOT plastic. I would do atleast 168 maybe even 192.

I personally have a 700 fusion and am not planning on studding it. However, if i were to stud it, i'd go with 144 Woody's gold diggers all down the center of the track!

I have the 1.25 ripsaw. I haven't rode it yet, obviously but I can't wait for the snow to fall!!! Thanks for all the Stud advice!
What does everyone think about handguards? Anyone put them on without having to do mods to the handlebar cover? If so, any pic's so I can see how you installed? Quote originally posted by TriumphoverU

Thanks Triump. You actually gave me a lot of good advice when I was comparing 600 vs 700. I couldn't resist the 700 for only a few hundred more!

IMO i think the powermadd handguards with the extensions look the best on the fusion since they have similar lines.
I had 144 woody's up the middle and but i did have some bend. For the new sled, i purchased 144 stud boy power points, 48 double backers, 48 single power plates and power tower nuts.
Here is a pic of my handguards.

I went with just 96 woody's on my '06 700 and that has worked really well for my riding style and normal conditions.

Thanks Everyone on the Stud replies... Is anyone using handguards? How does it work with the Fusions? Will I have to cut my handlebar cover or is there a mount somewhere out there that will allow me to mount them functionally without having to tear up my new sled ... it hurts to spend that much cash to cut a hole in it. At least for the first season (laugh)

I eliminated the stock bar pad and used a rox bar pad. See my pics above.
