I don't know what you have but I can help...I think I have some pics of my last install.
Pioneer AVEC D-3 (Nav & Blue tooth) Boston 5.25" components Boston 5x7" coaxials 2 JL 10's Memphis 5 channel (200x1,50x4)
O.K.-No pics. I'll take a few tomorrow. Mine is all stealth. I've got all that in an 08' ford one ton super crew. If you didn't see the head unit you wouldn't know it had a system. I did lose my spot were my jack was mounted though. I don't know what kind of bass you want but my JL's pound and take up very little space.

I have two 10"E's in my s 10, they pound more then hard enough to have good concert sound. but if you want people to hear you from a block away(literally) i dont think 2 12"E's would do it.

Get dual voice coil subs. They are better for all around performance, and pound hard.
I have a Rockford 12im with a 1200 watt mono rockford amp.
It pounds the crap out of my honda, and handles every type of music.
Youll want to get a deack that will handle the amp as well.
Also, if you want to spend a little more money, get JL or Rockford. Alpimes and Kenwood are good too for the money I think. Stay away from ebay deals on cheap brands. They sound crappy in my opinion.
Ive gone through 5 different setups on the last 5 years and have learned from every one of them.
It all depends on what you want to hear, and how loud you want it to be.
Do you guys agree with me?

if you want a pound hard sub that can handle decent power and you can pick up for dirt cheap used look into the pioneer premier 12's. they ave a few different series of them but they bang for the buck wise they are good.you can pick up older mtx amps that are way under rated and be found on the cheap used.also crunch, hifonics can be had fairly cheap used and are great $ per wattage amps. your gonna wanna upgrade your deck like now. those insignia car audio decks are junk. you can pick up decent pioneers at walmart for cheap.interior speakers again pioneer makes a decent speaker for the money. i personally have had MTX 9510's JL audio 12w7's and now have these

the pioneer premier TS3004SPL's 12" in a ported box running off my ever trusty mtx thunder 7801 mono block amp. subs are dual 4 ohm coils wired to a 1 ohm load and been running that way for 3 months now.i picked up the subs in the box with a crunch groundpounder 1600.1 amp off of craigslist for 200 bucks. deals can be had and this is my OPINION.

Just a thought, and no offense to anyone on this forum, but if you want some advice on car audio you should try consulting a web forum dedicated to car audio.

Alright, I'm probably going to piss off a few people here, but the car audio world is full of so much mis-truth, and I've seen a fair amount of it here.
MXZfasty02 - Dual voice coil subs offer absolutely NO advantage over single or quad voice coil subs other than wiring flexibility. A single coil 4 ohm sub is exactly that, 4 ohms, a dual coil 4 ohm sub can be wired to either 2 ohms or 8 ohms. Other than that difference, there is absolutely no audible difference between SVC, DVC, and QVC. The only difference is tiny differences in The QES and MMS parameters, but they're usually so tiny that even Dumax testers rarely pick them up.
Kawasaki_Kid - 2 12" subs is more than plenty to be heard a block away. But the question is, why would you want to do that? sound escaping yor car is also sound that is not getting to you. It's inefficient and irresponsible. A car that rattles is both a nuissance and illegal, not to mention a screaming invitation for someone to jack your sh*t.
99zl - A bigger amp will more than likely create more problems than is worth it. Until you literally double the wattage, you wont gain much in noticable ouput. Plus when you start using that much current, you need bigger expensive wiring, a bigger, expensive battery, and a bigger, expensive alternator to properly and safely run it. Stick with the amp you have now, it's not worth the hassle. If you change anything, improve your box, 90% of what you hear is controlled by your box. A good sub in a crappy box is like putting a Corvette engine in a Yugo chassis. BTW, Cerwin Vega hasn't been a relative factor in any sort of audio for the past 10 years. Their stuff is still good, but much better gear can be purchased for considerably less money.
440_jag - There is no such thing as a deck that isn't made for subs, any deck (even stock) can be used with subs. Your biggest problem right now is body panel flex. You need to deaden that car now if you want any sort of good quality sound in it. Second Skin is by far the best on the market (Dynamat is also a good product, but too expensive for it's performance level). Also, a single good quality sub in a properly designed and built ported box will offer you better results than two cheap subs in a crappy box, plus it will be cheaper.
PM me your budget and goals, and I will give you several good options, or at least a good idea on where to start.

This post is considered "no good" by the community with a rating of -6. View it anyways?
i had the jack hammer and the jl audios. there the 2 best subs out there. but the jack hammer is way to heavy and expensive. so id go jl audio or the old school kicker. or even Earthquake subs. and go 12" no bigger or smaller. there will give you high and low range bass. dont listen to Parasitic Whim dual voice coil is the way to go. single and quad are weak and blow way to easy. ive been in many bass contests to know whats good.

it doesnt matter the size of the subs at all. i can build a box for an 8" sub that can be just as loud as a 12" sub. infact i have 1 10" inch sub here that I can get louder and sound cleaner then most of the dual 12" setups around here. in all reality it isnt the equipment you have but its all in the install. a good box, proper wiring and electrical system. alot of car audio nuts will agree with me its like 80% install 20% equipment.a crappy install is gonna give you just that a crappy install with crappy sound. you could have the best equipment money can buy and it will still sound like ass unless its installed correctly.

Jackhammer huh? How much you pay for that beast, and how much did the suspension upgrade cost you? And what series JL subs? What do you define as high and low bass?
What was your average SPL, measured where, and on what mic?

I'm with Whim.
I like to think I know a fair share about the car audio world...but notice I did NOT comment on this post. I'm not about to risk other peoples money and good with what I "think" I know. I may not always agree with what some people post...but as far as car audio goes...Whim as helped many people, and has some quality knowledge on the subject.
And go only 12's? Meh. I've always ran dual 10's. I've had buddies with 8's, 12's, and even 15's. In many peoples opinions, my 10's sounded MUCH better than any of theirs. I took the time to install everything properly and set it up.

I dont have a reply for all this stuff, but i agree with whim, DVC subs have no advantage in sound, it just offers wiring flexibility to match it to an amp.
I would go with either 10s or 12s. 10s do sound pretty nice if you get them in the right box and power them good enough. Even some cheapass speakers will sound decent if mounted in the right enclosure. I personally have two 12" kicker comp vr (CVR) and they are pretty loud, i havent used them in a while but last time i did they were quite loud. I also had two 12" rockford fosgate he2 subs that were pretty nice, never had enough power for them tho, could have gotten louder and sounded better i think.
Ive also been around 10" subs. They will sound pretty nice and put out deep bass in my opinion.
I would only worry about a few things, Get some subs. Build a box to specs for that sub. Power it with enough power, doesnt have to be the exact rating, it can even be less, you just need to set the amp accordingly. I would first buy the subs, then the amp due to making sure they match up good. Depending what way you can wire the subs you may want a mono or two channel amp. Then the deck, that deck is prolly not very good and wont sound good either, its a cheap brand IMO. Even if you buy a deck from wal mart you can get a pioneer which are fairly nice in my opinion. I would prolly buy one online, prolly find it cheaper.
Ive got an alpine cda 9851, it has 3 pre amp outs which is good for a full external amplified system. Hook up a 4 channel for your speakers, and an amp for the subs. That might be more than your looking to do tho. If you want any decent sound you will prolly atleast want to replace the speakers in the doors, dash rear or whatever..
