Try using one of these.

Only issue with primers is the high ethanol fuel eat the lines up so you can have more parts to replace and fuel pickup issues down the road.

I don't have an issue pulling the 023 over more cause I don't like messing with running new fuel lines. I have been there done that with numerous poulans before.

Yeah, I have heard that one before, they are a good cheap saw saws. My father in law swears by them and I swear at them.

I am happy with my stihls, so I see no need to change.

I've used stihls and Huskys. I like them both. Dad just bought a new Husky 372xp, awesome saw, cuts very good. I have cut 2 log loads with it and no problems, just pull and go and let it cut.

I have Stihl 361 Pro, and cut 20 plus cord every year. This saw never misses a beat and is an amazing work horse. My uncle has a 455 rancher and has the same prob. with it stopping in bigger logs, it doesn't hold a candle to my 361. Everyone has had there problems with every brand, this has just been my experience and i will never buy another brand. Just my .02 cents

My dad works in the bush and his saws are running for sometimes 14 hours a day. He has tried both Husky and Stihl saws. But he likes husky better. More power, more reliable, and it has lasted him over 10 years! Its a little heavyer than the stihl, but its well worth it to have the power there when you need it. The stihl saws have there own little spot in the shed where they stay.

So go by a husky!

At $200 for a 46cc Poulan Pro vs almost $400 for a Stihl MS260, its tough to justify spending more for the Stihl, especially for someone who only uses a saw a handful of times a year to cut firewood.
IMO, a lot of the neagtive perception with Poulans comes from people who dont know how to use or maintain saws buying them because they are cheap and then when they have problems they always want to say the saw is junk instead of admitting that they dont know how to use and maintain a chainsaw. (Not that Im saying Xcr440 is one of those people, I know firsthand that he definetly knows how to use and maintain a saw.)
Im considering buying a Poulan Pro 46cc as my felling saw. At $200, its very tempting.

I have ran that saw you are talking about, get the stihl, after a year or so the poulan pro gets hard to start, the piston seems to stick in the bore.

The stihl has a better sealing air filter compared to the poulan also.

Yeah, thats kinda the same thought I had too. Something about Poulan just makes me feel a little unsure about the long-term dependability of the saw.
Im still leaning towards getting an Echo CS-440 for $300. More money, but its also a much higher quality saw.

Thanks for the opinions. My brother and I went to a Stihl dealer and we can get a good deal on a MS290. It's like 56cc, 18in bar without the vibration dampener. We can also get a free chain and 25% off a case. I work at Tractor Supply and we carry Husky so I can get a discount and a better warranty (3-4yrs), but if I need parts or service I have to send it somewhere or order the parts. With the Stihl I get a 1 year warranty, but they can service them where they sell them in town. The Stihl dealer said that to match a Stihl I'd have to buy a high end Husky. What model Husky's are you guys running?

I used stihl for 5 years when I worked for a tree service and lumber company. But I own a husky for personal use the extra weight helps kill vibration and the rpms are about the same.

I call BS on what your dealer said. He sells Stihls, so naturally he is going to brag up Stihls and say whatever it takes to make you buy what he is selling. In a lot of ways, I despise the arrogance of Stihl dealers and Stihl enthusiasts because they act like Stihls are perfect and are so vastly superior to everything else on the market.
Stihl makes cheaper, homeowner/occasional use saws too that isnt any better than any of the smaller Huskys and Echos.
To get a high-end Husky, you would have to go with a Rancher. If you work for a Husky dealer and can get a great deal, I think Id go that route.

You would have to step up to a 455 rancher.

The 290 should have the rubber vib dampners in the mounts between the handle bars and the case.

Only downside to husky is there low end saws come with very lightweight bars. They bend very easily.

Stihl has one of the longest lasting chains and bars on the market.

Not to mention that Stihl is the only one who makes their owns bars and chains. Stihl's bars and chains are made in their factory in Switzerland.

Stihl's are no match for a husky. I have a 455 rancher and a 310 stihl. My rancher has way more power, is lighter and with the commercial bar can walk all over my stihl

The biggest downfall to a Husky is the fact that they use Oregon bars and chains. Stihl bars and chains are far superior to Oregon.

Stihl's are no match for a husky. I have a 455 rancher and a 310 stihl. My rancher has way more power, is lighter and with the commercial bar can walk all over my stihl

the rancher is in a different class than the 310, the 310 is an occosianal use saw, not for a land owner like the rancher.

IO have ran them both and still not impressed with the husky. Will take a 460 over a rancher.

woodbooga: (WOOD-boog-ah), n. regional dialect, common to areas of New Hampshire and Maine including the towns of Ossipee, Alton, Farmington, Acton, and Lebanon; one who attempts to obtain free firewood to fuel woodburning appliances in an effort to mitigate expenses related to home heating with fossil fuels. Frequently used as a term of derision by non-woodburners who mock the presence of loose bark and other wood waste in the beds of their pickup trucks.
