Hello,
I wanted to install a heated sheild in my wife's new (leftover) 06' Fusion 700. Since it didn't come stock and it is a must on those cold rides in the U.P. for her.
1 - Does Polaris make a stock connector?
2 - If not where have you gotten your 12V power from?? Will any constant power source work?
3 - There are three stock connectors under the column... I haven't checked to see if these are actually
12V yet... has anyone used those?
4 - Post what you have done (if possible) so I can get some idea's... that would be great!
Thanks to everyone! Can't wait to get out and RIDE!
Paul

I am interested in finding out how this is best done. I just got a 2006 Fusion 600, and need to hook up my helmet shield. I contacted the dealer, they said it is under the handle bars somewhere, but the person I spoke with couldnt be more specific. I will try back when there service dept. is open. They did say it was a simple job and they charge $20 bucks to do it.

Should be a hot wire(loose) by the handle bars. You may have to snip the end and crimp them using a wire connector. The exact color escapes me at the moment.

I think you can use the black/brown connector that is located by the key switch underneath the hood, I'm pretty sure that's why its there?

Ok, I see what you mean. Can any one confirm that this is correct?
What I ended up doing was taking the rubber cover off of the handle bars and there was a wire there, brown & yellow. It seemed to be live, I tested the voltage and it was around 8-10 volts. I tried it out and I think it is ok, but if what you are saying is what it is for. I think I would rather use that.
Thanks!

I just spoke with Service deptartment at the dealer. He said the proper place to hook it up is as follows.
There is a red/white wire and brown wire, hooked to what looks like half of a trailer connector.
The red/white is the power and the brown is the ground.

Where would I get one of those heated shield pulgs that look like a half of a trailer plug for the sled. The dealers told me about the plug as well but look suprised that I would want one and cannot provide me with any info. Visited three dealers - all with the same response.

i just wired my 2007 IQ 600cfi for a heated shield, double check where you hook in to, the dealer here said not to use the wire behind the air box by the handlebars because it would rob power from the computer, if yours is carbed prolly not a problem, but if you hook to the wrong source when you plug your helmet in your digital display will quit working, found that out the hard way, test it out so you dont burn your dash gauges

I wired mine into the wiring for the handwarmers, that way it could be shut off with them also.

I would think it would be easy to find one of the trailer looking plugs at the dealer but the two dealers I went to are clueless. Do you know what the plug is called? Part number? anything. I do not want to screw up the computer on the sled.

If you use your handwarmers alot and ride on cold days, do not wire them into the hand warmers. This will take huice away from them.
You don't need that specific plug, you can buy the Male/female electrical connectors that will fit in the accessory plug on your sled.

I has the same issue with my 06 Polaris 900 Fusion. There is a small two prong plug, looks like a small trailer plug on the right side by the steering column above the oil. You cannot miss it. I went to three dealers who were of no assistance. They wanted me to cut and splice. I did not want to since the sled comes with the hook up already. I just wanted the plug. A 4th dealer had the plug. He bought it from "Carquest" auto parts and resold it to me. Best bet is to get the plug from your local car parts store. Take a photo of it and bring it in.

Just stop by a hardware store, Canadian tire/Home Hardware (if you're in Canada) or Lowes, and any of those other large home warehouses. If they have trailers, they'll have them.
