XCR 800 - Time to rebuild? - 6500 Miles on 01 XCR 800 Runs great thinking of doing a rebuild started by jasonmc98

Pop the heads off and look at the cylinders and if you see any major scratches or if you hear any bearing noise, it's time for a rebuild. Other than that the crank seals would be my only concern due to age. I also use AMSoil and have not had any issues with it.

Thanks Guy's. I'm going to take the heads off and take a peak. Anyone know the torque specs for the heads on these?

I did the rebuilt on my '00 with about the same mileages as you have with yours. There are others with good opinions and I wont tell u what you should do and shouldnt do - based on my experience, the first time I bought my sled used, it ran good but it felt a "little" slow. When I did the rebuild 2 yrs ago with all new SPI pistons and rings - wow, Id tell ya, the sled roared to life, stronger and faster than when I first got it. For about less than 200 bucks, it was well spent. WL.

16-18ft/lbs. Make sure you retorque after the first ride.
