Ok I got mine apart I have a few questions, first of all what do you replace the outer bearing with because it has the spacer built in to it.Second thing when I took the crank out the outer bearing just slid right off it doesn't look like it got hot or was spinning to long on the crank, there are some light grooves on the crank but nothing on the cases. The new big bearing is nice and tight, and the run out on the crank is .001 should be ok. Im thinking that maybe you use the inner bearing for the outer when installing the big bearing please look at the pics for illustration.Any thought on this would be highly appreciated The pics are in my media file cant get them to load in the message

You might want to consider getting a PTO end on that crank. 800's are notorious for breaking, you caught yours before it did. The crank end is one place where I would not fudge even a little bit. If you want it to last, it has to be perfect. The bearing is not supposed to slide right off (I bet you knew that). Your end has damage and that will lead to more damage if not repaired correctly. The wide bearing bridges the problem in your end, but without full support under the bearing, you are now focusing the stress onto a different part of the crank.

Thanks dc dan I kind of thought that was the answer but I was just hoping that the snowmobile gods would spare me the hassle so close to the start of the season these darn 800 twins next time a small block 600.Now she getting a crank end, trued, line bored, big bearing, new motor mounts, motor plate, torque arm and bump stop should be good to go after that. How knows of a good crank guy?

For Polaris 800's, you can't beat Indy Specialty. He is a bit expensive, but if you send him your lower end,it comes back as perfect as it can get, and has a 3 year warranty...
