gas in air box - hey started by xcedge

hey i drive an 02 xc sp 600 and i am getting really bad fuel milage. the carbs seem to be shooting gas into the air box rather then sucking in air i was wondering are my jsets just set too high and if so how i do i set them?

I dont think overjetting would cause fuel in the air box. I would start off taking the carbs all apart and cleaning them good, the jets too. Take them out clean it ALL up real good. Im thinking maybe your float is stuck open.

Inspect the needle and seat in the carbs.

While you have the carbs off I would take a good look at the reeds....if one is cracked or broken off you could get back pressure which would blow fuel into the air box. Question......is there fuel on both sides of the air box or one?

Do your carbs vent into your airbox?

If they do, it is possible that the carb bowls are being flooded and gas is being forced out the vent tubes into your airbox.

Stuck floats or faulty fuel inlet needle and seat can cause this problem.

My friend is having the same problem.



If you cant fix it with duct tape, tylnol, or band aids your screwed.

both sides and its only when i give it throttle it dosnt do it when its at idle

hey motodeficiant whats funny?

ive never worked on this type of carb before and im not sure of it

hey who knew someone would be joining the same site i am on. its like you knew someone who went on it. anyways anyone else got any ideas? lol

btw "xcedge" WELCOME TO SLEDDING LIVE lol. drive fix drive fix like i always say :P. sure it is fun but out of all of us. you and i both know that it takes a lot to keep a sledding running. now at least you have a sled thats worth keeping it running lol. instead of that old sled ed sled you had.
