I was wondering if anyone knows the full model number for the TM-40's that come on a 2003 XCSP 800. I'm really trying to find an exploded view and service procedure but its kinda hard when you dont have the whole model number. Now......before anyone gives me hell and says "why don't you look at the number on the carb" it's been worn off. These carbs are the first ones i've come accross that have the fuel bowl pressed on (at least that's what it looks like) also I still have no idea what the two white screws on the lower outlet side are for? There not pilot jets because there up front?

Cheers

The float bowls are held in by a nut that is attached to the water traps(the hose that hangs down), unscrew them and the float bowl will come off no problem. The white screws are the fuel screws, they control fuel flow from idle to about 1/4. Turning them IN allows less fuel to enter the mixture(leaner), turning them OUT allows more fuel into the mixture(richer). The pilot jets are right by the main jet(covered up by the float bowl), after you have the float bowl off you will see the pilot jet(buried deep into the carb, you'll need a flathead screwdriver). The jet you speak of on the airbox side of the carbs is the air screw.

Thats wierd....I unscrewed the water trap and the one little brass phillips screw that holds the bowl down.....she didn't want to come off. Then I tried prying the bowl off with a large screwdriver, after that I pretty much figured that the bowl was pressed on so the average guy wouldn't mess with it. Put it this way......this is the first carb of 100's that i've cleaned out over the years that I couldn't get the bowl to come free. Quess I need to man up and pry the little bastard off.
Thanks for your help

Wow that is weird, I've never heard of them being on that tight. Whenever I unscrew mine the bowl falls off without any effort. If you get it off look to see if you can find anything that was keeping it from coming apart.
