I put on about 36 miles this weekend around Hawley, MN and Detroit Lakes, MN. I rode with a friend out on Big Floyd and Little Floyd lake and did a bit of ditch riding.
We only have 3-4 inches but a lot has drifted into the ditches.
Here's a few pics:

My friend on Big Floyd Lake

My F8 just North of Hawley.

We're supposed to get some more snow this week... let's keep our fingers crossed.

I am hoping for what Dave Dahl from kstp Minneapolis said that this will be a colder than average winter with a high amount of snow. He was saying for the Twin Cities that we are looking at 70-80 inches of snow and the Duluth area should see over 100 inches of snow. This was posted back in early october. Well he has the cold right and now for the snow. It is a good thing that we have had the cold first so that any snow that we get will stay on the ground and wont leave us. I am hopping for this week Minnesota should see about a foot of snow. I know that will not happen but I am doing the snow dance to make things happen. I was telling my woman that I have to wash my truck so that we get snow. She laughed at me and look at what happens. We got about 2-3 inches in the last day! So go was those cars and trucks so that we get more snow!

Man the temps have been cold as hell already! Atleast these last couple days here.. Temps like 10 and lower, with "real feel" in the negatives. Its a bit cold for me. Once its taht cold it just sucks cuz i have a full face helmet and fogs up so fast its not even funny, pisses me off really. I need to look into a new open face helmet.

Kinda doubtful for a foot of snow by the end of the week, but we very well may see a few more inches and it will start piling up. I think MN is gona get a pretty decent winter, and its arleady started.

We picked up maybe another 2 inches today and it looks like it's about over for the night. We're getting closer, but still have a long way to go in the Alexandria area. Thats probably good because my sled is in a million pieces!

Its been snowing on & off here in SW MN all day. I'm guessing we have about 4" total around the Redwood Falls area. (we had about 2" from last week, and about 2" today) Enough so I went out for a short cruise this evening. Very fluffy!!! I may be off a tad in my measurements, but what we do have is really blowing into the ditches, so they are pretty full!!

Who are you calling young and dumb? I'm twice your age, and I made some tracks. We went out on Lake Agnes, but my buddy was tearing around on the grass at City Park, so I didn't want to stick around too long. My sled was running crappy anyway. I was worried about getting home. There was stuff running through the fuel lines that first looked like suntan lotion, and then it looked like gas with a large quantity of water drops mixed in. I had a gnarly lean bog, so I called it a day.

I just got back from Waseca... 6 ft drifts lined the entire ditch that runs from the medford outlet mall to the snake trail (about 8 miles). Some of the biggest i've ever seen. All around good riding too

Yes, I suppose I was calling you dumb! Riding the lake is fine, but ditches with 3 inches? Not so good. Like I said, if my sled were assembled, I too would be young and dumb right now! It won't take much more to make it atleast "rideable" here.

6" in the alex area would be better! 3" would still be pretty thin in most ditches in the area!

I don't think I'd go out around here without another 5" on top of what we have. I've wrecked enough stuff these last few years because my stupid early and late season itch got the best of me. My source from Bemidji said there was 4" on the ground as of today. John Dee and NOAA are saying a major winter storm may impact central and northern MN this weekend and early next week. Looks like 4-8"+. If it all pans out I'll be heading north to my cabin by Itasca on Wed to get some riding in. Another 4" is all it'll take for the logging roads!

Heres a little teaser from last year. To think it might look like that next week!

The east and west ditches are pretty decent. Pounded out 20 miles yesterday. I figured it would have gotten hard right away but it was still decently soft and nice. I like the sounds of storm activity next week then we might actually have a groomer out for the first time in 2 years haha
