when i went under i was about a mile from home i had been skipping for weeks never had a problem , i was taking off from a small little island and it kind of had a gradual drop when i took off the whole ice broke and sent me jumping like 2 feet onto the water , i almost made it but it sunk right up to the windshield .
It took 3 big guys to pull it out but a day later i was out riding again
, away from water

Have never actually crossed water, but I have crossed ditches that were flooded. The only reason I have never done it is because I really haven't had a good opprotunity. If I saw the chance I would do it.

Personally I think it is very foolish thing to do intentionally. Ive skipped ditches, the edge of a lake, and even a flooded trail. But I will never point my sled at open water and hit the gas.
A lot of guys do it, and thats their choice, a lot of people are more adventurous than me. I just dont see a point to it and the risk is too great for me.

I have not skipped with my tank but I have been out in my field in the spring floods with about 10 feet of water. I used my old Fosterparents sled it was a 04 Polaris XC something 600cc

Not sure why this was posted in "group rides" since it has absolutely nothing to do with a group ride...

I have a few encounters with skipping. Nothing ever to big. And nothing ever to deep. Deepest I've ever done was 4 1/2 feet, and it was a little tiny peninsula that stuck out into a lake, and a brook came up around it into the lake, causing the ice to be VERY thin. So I skipped just the water a few times, then dropped off the peninsula ( about 2 feet down ) and just pinned it right before I hit ( if you try to spin your track WAY to much, it will dig in and sink ).

Although you guys are gonna make fun of the video, I had fun doing it:

cool video brp. looks like you had fun, and thats all that matters. i have crossed a small puddle before on my indy 500. it sucked though, because when i got to the other side, the skis were under water and hit the edge of the ground and shot the front end up in the air. the puddle was about 2 feet deep and about 10 feet wide. nothin to brag about at all. your video makes me want to go out and ride!

its the most fun you can have in the water with your clothes on lol

i've done a couple races on my buddys sled and its really fun, i dont like doing it in the winter because its too cold.

Quote originally posted by T-dizzle

it was tight. this one time i put 89 octane instead of 87 and my sled went like 60 times faster and i could water skip because it went really fast. i recomend 89 or 91 to anyone.

Bambi would have been a better and shorter movie if he was shot in the beginning with his mother

if a ride on lawn mower takes bumps better than your sled, its time to upgrade

Dude, which sled were you on there, cause I was there. My first year there, and my dad said that it will be our traditional summer vacation now! Sweet! And then the final day we took my cousin, he was there 2 minutes, and he decided he was coming back next year, too, cause he thought it was so cool!
