Thought I'd start a thread and let everyone know that the park in Bessemer, MI that was called Queerland last year is now called Evolution Sled Park. You might have seen the park in Turnagain Hardcore 7 or Braaap 8.

So far this year the western UP has been hit pretty good with snow. So there are already tons of jumps (snow jumps and steel ramps), a snocross track, and a cross country course.

Here are some pics:

A whole bunch of little snow doubles - kind of a beginners area

It's kind of hard to see, but this is a roller/whoop section on the snocross track

Snocross track

the Fhead beginner ramp

Comp 2 ramp

75 foot snow step down (kind of a step down anyway)

100 foot snow double

Little snow double

You can check out a lot more pics and stuff on:

I just checked google, that's only 3 1/2 hours away from me!!!! Definitely gonna plan a trip, gotta talk to the crew.

Is there a good trail system around there? I know the U.P. has lots of trails and gets a lotta snow, but how is that area? Is there a site showing the trails or anything?

I think you should always have the name "Queerland" in parentheses after the new name. Or something like Prince: "Evolution, the park previously known as Queerland." That name, and how you came up with it, was too funny.

No, I haven't been up yet. Heading there this weekend for my first ride of the year.

You pay a fee of $25 a day or a season pass for $150

Oh yeah, lots of trail riding going on up there. Here's a map, but it doesn't look to me like all the trails are showing up on it - http://www.westernup.com/snowmobile/ Otherwise just google western u.p. snowmobiling or something and you'll find all kinds of sites with trail reports and stuff.

Ironic, as I saw this thread the Queerland part is on THC7 on my TV. What kind of insurance waivers do you have to sign? I'm assuming that everything is at your own risk and that Queerland(evolution) is not liable for any injury? Would be the most logical.

Yeah, I don't have anything to do with the business side of the park, but I know there is a waiver that must be signed.

Did anyone see the article with a bunch of pics from Queerland in the October issue of Sledheads Magazine?

More pics from blackout 440 over on DooTalk

Here's what he had to say too:

Quote
Here are some pics from this past weekend, this was our first trip to the park. This place absolutely rocks, its set up for riders of all skill levels, the guys running it are great too, they give you the tour, tips on riding, ask for your suggestions on the parks terrain setup, etc... These guys aren't out to make money either just keep the groomer running to make the park better everyday. Theres a heated garage on the property with a pop machine its a cool hangout spot. The park is by far the coolest place i've ever had the chance to ride, we're going back this weekend again. Come check it out, you won't be dissappointed.

Here is part of the article about the Days of Wonder event that was held last March at Evolution Sled Park/Queerland from the October issue of Sledheads Magazine

Dylan goes big on the 100 foot snow double.

Here's a sequence shot of Dylan hitting the 100 footer too.

Here's one of the Menomonie guys hitting up the cross country course. Sorry guys, I can't remember what your names are......I remember the sleds though.

We bust out the Phazers, Ovations, and SRVs occasionally.....they are good for ankle injuries when you try to hit that stuff with them. An exciter would be f'ing crazy!

driftjumper- my girlfriend has pic's of most of the people who were up there saturday, do you want them?

Owning a race sled is like having a totally hot girlfriend..... All of your friends want to see it, feel it and check it out..... They all want to know what it is like to ride it, but if they only knew how much time and money it takes to keep one up, they would call you a fool!

^Ya I thought that was you, I got pic's of pretty much everyone that was there saturday. To bad it wasn't so windy and icey there, I wanted to hit the comps and the kicker. But oh well next time.
