Many of you may find this pointless, but i found this quite interesting and am wondering if many others out there have heard of it? I was on the computer tonight searching for some Genetic mutations for Biology when i came across this. Progeria. Progeria is a disease that is said to affect 1 in 8 000 000 births! Talk about rare. However there is a family in India that happens to have 5 or 6 kids. All but 2 have this disease. Progeria is a disease that is recognized by the premature aging of a child. (Kind of like a dog in a way, 1 year really equals 7-10 years). Progeria is diagnosed by the loss of hair, or abnormal growths. Very few people with the disease live past the age of 13, however few have lived to be in their early 20's. As of yet there are no treatments available for this rare genetic disease. Scientists are very interested in the disease because it may show the steps involved with normal everyday aging. Sorry for rambling on, just thought i'd share this very interesting disease.
