I heard it could be the stator and was wondering how i exactly test it on
the white connector plug and what my ohm reading should be? Also it revs out
if thats got any thing to do with it or if anybody has any idea what could be wrong with it?

I have gone thru the carbs and chokes wroking right. It will run crappy on low end but once you hit a certain point on rpm it will run great, more or less at full throttle. i think its elctrical but idk?

Does it run well when its colder or warmer? Iam 95% sure its your jetting, that xcf motor is not even close to the older fan's. Very finiky motor, i know i had one.

Thats the same vibe I was getting, what jets do you have in it and how do the plugs look?

When you cleaned the carbs did you reset the air screws and such to the factory positions?

i have the same thing happen to mine. everything is jetted right ive tried so many things. ive got it clutched to engage at about 4500 rpms. i go wide open in some deep powder in a field and then let the throttle off to turn around, it gets down to about 5000 rpms and i can hear it, it like loads up and when i hit the throttle again it doesnt go up past 6000 rpms. i was thinking it might be that i accidentally put 91 octane in it one day and you are supposed to put 87 in it because the 91 burns slower and it isnt completely burning. im gonna run the gas through and then put 87 in and see if it still does this. im hoping thats it. it runs fairly well on packed snow, it hesitates where it loads up and then it takes off hits 7750 rpms, right where it should be. then when i stop to let it idle it goes down to about 2500rpms for idle doesnt go lower (i have to adjust the air screw) then i try after 10 seconds wide open throttle and it bogs and hesitates for a couple seconds then takes off.
so im checking making sure the octane is the problem otherwise im gonna be tearing stuff apart to find this problem.
a suggestion if you are running the right octane (87) and it is doing this is to set the tab on the float level up a small amount to cut off fuel going into the bowl earlier, that can cause it to load up.

You can wait til the next tank of gas, but I doubt its an octane issue. Dump some water in there to dilute it down to a lower octane.
No dont really.

I recently purchased a 01 XCF 440 from my local polaris dealer. My intent was to go riding with my 12 year old son who has a 95 starlite, which has a 250 one lunger in it( father/son project). Our first ride same problems.Bogging and stalling after any low speed drving or stopping 20 seconds for road crossing.Plugs were totally black(fouled).Long time friend (polaris mechanic)told me to raise clip on needle jet(metering rod) to the second slot from the top(factory setting is third slot).I went out again and found a huge improvement.Plugs are now a dark brown and just about no carbon.I will play with it some more in steps cause the fuel consumption sucks. My 01 xc 600 sp mod. was a whole lot better on fuel.I will let you know how I make out. And , yes this is a finicky motor. Most polaris mechanics know them.

I have two of these sleds a 2000 and a 2001. They both have unloaded on me. These engines are a bitch.... Its all in the jetting. They run like hell when they are tuned right. I raced them and the little fan screams. The sled was built for the track! They are not very trail friendly. Sorry guys...
Be careful if ya run em to lean they will burn up. I put a shot of oil in the tank.
I rocommend ya get a 550 its a better trail sled.
Good luck and have fun.
Enjoy the sno,

What jet size should I run on mine, because i did some adjusting to the jet needle and it made a huge difference but still didnt run the best, would the rest be adjusting the jets?
