so I was sitting next to the highschool at an intersection when the kids let out. the ones with there little gay snowcross cans all cross the street, when they hit the bank on the other side of the street they had to pin it, pop there little wheelie then keep it pinned as they rode up on private property spinning the hole time. the other kids with older sleds and stock exhaust cross the road, pop there little wheelie when they hit the bank but for one there sleds didnt sound like crap, two they didnt tear up the place of business property,

so what is it about the brap cans that makes me want to just throttle everyone riding one, is it the annoying sound, or the attitude of every moron that has one and thinks he is badass? as much as i love big hp sleds that put out some noise, these puds with there little brap cans are just annoying, my lil 600 isnt the quietest but i am trying to get it quieter, but atleast its a triple where it sings the high notes and sounds nice, these brap cans make the sleds sound like crap.
I hear them on the lake in front of the house, you can hear that high pitch sound for every away and you think something fast is coming down the pike, turns out to be some kid on his "mod" that is trying to break powder at 60 mph with his sled? wtf,

or these same jackoffs come into the gas station like they have to prove themselves at every moment. most people come into the gas station, you might go over the snow pile, but these bungholes have to try to catch major air and be all "extreme" as they launch into a gas station or parking lot, not taking into account other people or cars that might not see them. and then do the rev up thing as they pull in and out of the station.
I know i am getting old but you wonder why sleds are getting a bad rap.

I hear ya!

The teenage kids around my town all drive brand new sleds with the brapp cans! They all have the expensive riding gear too. I kind of wonder how they all can aford all this new stuff.

Anyways, they drive by my house in the ditch and rev the hell out of them as they jump every aproach all the way down my street. Braaaappp! Braaaaapppp! Braaaaappp! I can hear it in the house when I'm in bed at night. Kind of annoying! And they wonder why the Town wants to kibosh sleds from town limits.

Don't get me wrong, I love the sound of aftermarket exhaust. But the showing off just gets annoying!

they can afford it because there daddys and mommys buy it for them. i hate spoiled brats who get everything with out even having to lift a finger. speaking on that note, i havent seen many posts from BRP lately [not trying to start a bash or anything it just made me think of how everyone makes fun of him for that]

It's America. They don't have to care. People that don't like them do care and will work to shut our sport down.

Where do they get the loud exhaust systems from??? The Snowmobile industry. It's sort of like cutting your own throat.

Your right to be loud ends when it invades someone elses right to their silence.

I'm all for more performance from sleds, but not for the noise that comes from aftermarket cans. Most of the cans don't give any extra horsepower either, some actually lessen the power level.

I will never put a can on any of my sleds. I prefer to keep them quiet and do some clutching and handling upgrades. Be fast without sounding like it. Noise does not equal speed.

my sled is very loud, I don't trail ride though and if I did I'd buy a stock sled. I've never had just an after market silencer on a stock pipe, but I know people who do. I think it's about the same as people that make there cars load but don't do any motor work, just like to listen to it.

We are kinda lucky here, and 80% of the time the only sleds we hear are ours. But what i hate is when its like midnight, and all of a sudden you hear the sound of 2 strokes screaming down the road. All the kids on their dirt bikes and quads with their annoying loud pipes go screaming out of town, then back towards town(most of them live in the middle of town, one kid has jumps on their half acre of land in his neighborhood). My sled sounds nice and is loud enough for me. And its stock, its gonna be that way. When we ride into town we arent loud, and around here the only riding we do when its dark, is up and down some of the close back roads and out back in the fields. But its kinda like ricers. Why the hell do they put coffee cans on em, and then make them sound like crap and try to show it off? I just dont get it.

it just makes me laugh when these guys or kids have the pimp walk from there sled into the gas station. then they fire up the sled, dont care whats around them after they do a couple rev ups to show what they have they just take off. if they cut someone off it dont matter.

then riding down the ditch, every driveway aproach is there launching pad, we have 10" of snow and after this weekend all the driveways will be spun down to dirt from the braaaap babys trying to get some "extreme" air time.

I love the sound of loud exhaust on my sled and my truck which has dual straights. My philosphy said time and time again

The louder the exhaust the better, Smokey start up on two stroke sled the better and the 8mpg i get on my truck is the best

sweet

I still don't think loud sleds on the trail is a good idea. People let snowmobilers use there land to ride on, the last thing I want to do is piss a bunch a people off and ruin the trail system off other riders. That's why I stay off the trails.

Id say the attitude is the problem more than the brap cans. It seems like most of the time the attitude and loud cans seem to go together though.
Ive seen some people out riding who have loud cans on their sled, but they are careful to not get on the gas too hard until they get out of town and you have other people who love to cruise down the trails, blipping the throttle all the time to draw attention to themselves and show off.
I like the sound of a loud can too, but there is a time and place for that. IMO, in-town is not the place and at night when people are trying to sleep is not the time.
Its people like that who make the public hate snowmobiles and its whats going to kill this sport eventually.

well alot of these sleds i find that my crying calfs give off 2 times the sound as the sleds with the cans and such its okay if you have a loud sled but it better have power to back that sound up and the rider better ride with respect.

Exactly, when someone has an attitude about it they are just arrogant and mash the throttle when they dont have to is whats the problem. I would also say the attitude is the problem.

Funny you say that about gas stations. We have those kids here to. They race from gas station to gas station to anywhere people will be to show off their mega loud 500's and show the huge air they can catch jumping the snowbanks that are pushed up around the stations. If they only knew how stupid they looked LOL.

Is there something in the gene pool?

I could care less how loud someones sled is "most" of the time. But why do they have to rev it up in the short choppy kind of way to get it to move from one place to another. Is it something wrong with their thumbs they cant slowly depress the flipper to move the sled? No....its gotta go wing wing wing wing wing wing wing wing as loud as they can to move it 4 feet.
