today my father and i were going in to worcester and while in 3rd [its an automatic] it started skipping. its felt like it was burping, it felt like it was going pull, stop, pull, stop, so on for a couple seconds then it stoped. then while on the highway it did it again while in overdrive. this doesnt happen in 1st or 2nd. what do you think this is? tranny? thanks for any help.
Bambi would have been a better and shorter movie if he was shot in the beginning with his mother
if a ride on lawn mower takes bumps better than your sled, its time to upgrade

It's definatly the transmission, take it to an auto shop, it's much safer to have them look at it than have us guess online.

My dad's old geo metro did the exact same thing only in second gear. Seems like you're in a youtbe video that has to "buffer"

I doubt it. I haven't seen a distributor in a car for a long time.

any check lights on ? if so a shop can pull the trouble codes,, this will tell you if it is a motor or trany problem.. a motor problem may cause the trany to go into a limp mode.. could be as simple as an o2 sensor but you wont know untill you scan the computer.. you could also change trany fluid,, tranys like fresh fluid...
life is good,, go sledding...

its either a 3-2 shift silenoid or a coil that is bad, if its a coil you probably have two of them and it is best to replace them both at the same time because you just took a big hit on the good one. If you just replace the one that is bad you will be replacing the other one in a month or so.

you have a good point, our f150 at work use to feel like the tranny was slipping but we replaced all the o2 sensors and worked great after that. till the shift linkage broke. i wouldn't change the tranny fluid though, i heard of a lot of problems come after changing fluid.

what he said. new fluid and filter might make that old transmission feel good again.
call around and see how much it would cost for new fluid and filter.
