I have the opportunity to pick up a 1997 SKS 700 twin, 3225 miles very nice shape for $1500.00 Can any one tell me the good, bad and the ugly about the sled. 1st one I have owned in quite some time and wondering if its a good one?
Thanks in advance people!

good reliable sled. that engine will have 220 cylinders which people say have problems with catching rings and cracking on the exhaust port. I have over 7k miles on my 220 engine and never had a top end problem. I think there crazy. lol

with 3k miles its time to change the water/oil pump belt. things get nasty when those break.

has about 120hp, but dont let the numbers fool you these sleds pull hard when clutched properly.

$1,500 is a good deal for that sled.

I believe the '97 SKS 700 motor was the watercraft motor that Polaris made, in '98 they went with the Liberty twin. As for the 220 cylinder castings, yah Polaris knew about the rings catching, and if you buy the sled which is a solid price I believe, after the season concludes, and you want assurance, do a top end rebuild, and have a machine shop chamfer the ports for you. You would be into a new gasket set, I would re-ring it, and machine shop work, maybe $125

97 was the frist year of the liberty 700, basicly the same engine as the snow checked 98's other then the heads. They had sks's rmk's and limited build xc's in 97.

the engine didnt say liberty any where on it, just US made and poalris on the head.
