You should put some wheels in there. Also, how tight was the track, and I assume it is studded?

yep, due to having no wheels there, the track is constantly hitting the slides and wearing them out. the wheels help keep the track off of the slides and let them last longer.
1997 Indy 500 L/C, motor just rebuilt: runs good. lost the engine mount while riding and its not in the sled!
1995 ZR 580EFI: just needs the speedometer cable

There should be two inner idler wheels in the suspension, I can't tell from the pic whether or not you have them. A lot of other people who ride in low snow conditions on Trail converted IQ's tend to add some other idler wheels as well to help with the hyfax wear.

By the looks of the picture, there are no inner idler wheels. Like said above, you need SOME sort of idler wheel to aid in hyfax wear otherwise you will end up replacing your hyfax every other ride...

As others have said, on these iqs on the trails you need as many wheels as you can, also scratchers are a must on the rock hard trail days!! My very first ride on hardpack trails lasted 2 miles and smoked a set of hyfax!! put on wheels and it much better, then added scratchers and that help keep the temps down!

after doing this mod id suggest running the front track spring preload as loose as possilbe. you wnat it just tight enough to keep the retailer on. if your racing snox you will wnat it tighter but not trail. youll also want to turn hte clicker down a bunch. the mod makes a huge difference. the rear track shock will not need to be as still either because you now have better coupling. the skis id suggest running the spring preload as low as possilbe becasue they are very stiff spring for trail. id suggest switching to a 150 or 130 lb spring. also low sprindles form a 07 or 08 IQr will make a huge difference corning. they are 1 inch lower

o ya youll be fine doing that. i have stuff softened up alot on my 08 and the whole sled lower 1 inch for XC and it still takes alot to bottom. i haven taken it out on the snox track a few time and it does very well there.
