I am wanting a Polaris fusion real bad, Preferrably a 06 600HO, as I have heard they are the best, I love with the looks of the sled, I currently have a mint 00 XCSP 700, and I just cant get over how nice my dads sabercat rides, night and day as far as suspension, I wouldnt mind an f7, but I still like polaris, besides, my mom, dad, and 2 of our friends have sabercats/f7's, and I want something different. I know right now is not a good time to buy a new sled, but I have my eyes peeled.

Should I steer clear of the 700 fusions? I dont want a 900 at all, I have heard the 700 is good if set up and vented etc... but the 600HO's are the best "start and ride" sleds. Also, it seems like most fusions right now are in the $4000-$5000 range, wondering what I can expect to pick one up for after winter. Please let me know what you guys think.

If you dont want the 900 then you dont want the 700 either. They are both plagued with the same problems. The 600HO however is a strong sled and known to be pretty reliable.

Ok, thanks for the reply, Theres an 06 600HO on ebay right now just south of Ft Wayne, IN, would be about a day trip for me (im in grand rapids, MI) It got about 1500 miles on it, I might have to bid on it unless it skyrockets, like I said, wrong time of year to buy a sled...

i suggest you get an IQ 600 CFI and ride the sled polaris is proud of. you will be able to find good leftover prices too. the 600 fusion is the best fusion out there though

4-5000 is still too much. you should be able to get one for 3500. Go to the fusion owners topic. there you will get honest answers from people who own them

Hello,

If I, as a 5'4", 105lbs woman can handle a 700 with supposed steering issues, you can! Both my husband and I have a 2006 700 and it has proven to be a GREAT investment! I heard a LOT of bad things on the 2005's that put a bad rap to the name "fusion" but for the most part by 2006 they did work the bugs out. We did have two (maybe 3) service items/recalls/updates by polaris, which are done, but we personally have had NO issues at all!

The only modifications made to both sleds are 144 studs down the center and I run 6' carbides and my husband runs 8' carbides instead. I love the sled and stearing, overheating, or belt issues they say happen hasn't happened to either of our sleds. Not to say if you got one that didn't do the updates that it couldn't have issues, we just take care of our stuff! I ride this machine like I stole it... it's gotta pay for itself!

I say go for the 700, you won't be disappointed. The 700 is a mean, quick machine... after all you don't want a chic in all pink to beat ya your 600 do you? Just teasing!

I say the price is fair for a NEW one. We picked up ours as left overs during the summer as NEW for $5000/ea (OUT THE DOOR-Included tax, prep etc) and we already have 700 miles on them this year/season (with the stock OEM belt).

I too was between the 600 and 700 when we were buying ONLY because of the widespread issues that I had seen online w/ the 700. I am VERY happy with our decision to go with the 700's!

get an IQ, the fusion just wasn't that great of a sled, many of my friends have/had one, they just don't hold up well unless you spend a lot of money on aftermarket or just slowly trail ride and never get air or hit anything.
3-5 is too much also, a friend got a 06 700 leftover last summer for $4300 new

Lets go off first hand knowledge because when it comes down to it we all have "a buddy" "a friend" or a neighbor" that has done it, knows it, or has gotten a deal on it.

I have a 2006 700 fusion and have had none of the issues that everyones "friends" have had. I say go with the 700 if you can find one, you wont be disappointed.

I have spent hours working on those sleds, been standing next to one while it was broke down and spent more that one late night dragging broke fusions out of the woods. NOW, I'm not bashing the fusion at all. There fast and handle very nice on the trail. I'm happy to hear that people have good luck with there sleds, but I've spent more than a lot of time with wedges, edges, fusions and IQs, the fusions brake the most.

And also, I'm saying that fusions aren't good running sleds and if you buy one it's junk and everybody that has one is dumb or anything like that. I'm just saying that the IQ is a better sled. That's why the fusion only made it for three years.

Sounds like you are a good friend to still ride with those unlucky fusion owners.

I should know what this means... but...

I have read about the "rider forward" position, what exactly does that mean? does it sit more like a motorcycle or something? Less relaxed?

it's when the riders is forward on the sled, like a 600RR or a new yamaha phazer or Ski-doo TNT. as not like a edge or a any older sled.

I just have one thing to add. the fusions and the iq chassis are the same exact chassis with different plastic over it. yes there may be small differences, but 99% of the chassis itself is the same! Obviously the motors are different, but as far as "getting air" or "hitting something" the fusion and the iq will have the same failures.

Nothingsoundslikeatriple, so the advice I gave you about the 700 fuse turned out to be good advice i take it?

My friends did this and my neighbor did that and this guy had this...My god that is so annoying.
I too had an 06 fusion 700 and I beat the living sh** out of it. Loved it, I will have another one next winter. Very powerful and torquey. I had it to 108, and these speedometers are very accurate. I'm 6'0 225 and if it can take what I throw at it then I am sure it can take it from you. I had heat issues with my sled, belt was getting hot and I burned them up pretty good. I put a vent in and an Ultimax belt and I was good. Zero problems from there on out.

The IQ and Fusion are the exact same chassie just different plastics btw gordonchaine. Sounds to me like your friend doesn't take of his sled very well...
