I recently bought an '02 Thundercat that needed a bit of work. It has triple D&D pipes with silencer, a degree key, a power breather and a 60-40 helix in a secondary.
I'd like to know what this setup should be getting for top speed?
This is my first time owning a Thunder.
Also, any information regarding clutch/gear setups for this machine would be appreciated. I do a lot of lake running but I don't want it to be a sluch out of the whole either.
Thanks,
Pete

Well the 1998 can go 120 in 1000 feet on ice, so I would suspect similiar numbers.

Not sure why 138 is so hard to believe. My 800 can do 90 at the drop of a hat and still pulling hard. Not sure what my top speed is and I'm not sure I want to find out.

I have to agree with the last 2 posts. I reach 90mph very quickly on my old 700 and I once had a good 3 mile run on a hardpacked strait road and the speedo needle was pointing straight down. 100 is like 4o´clock on my speedo. I later compared it with my gps and it was pretty accurate.
So close to 140 on a T-cat I´ll believe any day of the week, after all, those T-cats are some of the fastest stock snowmobiles ever build!!!

You guy's crack me up!! 140MPH on a stock 1000 T-Cat is not going to happen I know I have one!! My T-Cat is modded as you can see in my sig below and it has not even come close to 140 MPH!! LMAO!! BTW that guy's 138 MPH T-Cat is a 1997 which makes it a 900 and it would have 10HP less then the 1000 T-cat. I also have a 1997 Ultra 680 bx stock and 120MPH on the speedo is about 100MPH on the GPS. Indyultra has a piped 1997 Ultra and it wont even see 120 MPH.
Cheers

going a quarter mile vs a half mile run isnt much different. i bet 99% of trail sleds will not gain much if any speed from the 1/4 mile to the half mile,
when you watch the guys run 3000' you can see that most of the trail sleds will actually lose speed before they reach the end.
nothing goes like 3 holes!!
