Does anyone use premix on their big block liberty twin engine? I wanted to just run premix on my project sled if i ever get it going. But im told its not really recomended, seeing as how the oil lines seem to go right to the bottom end and for the bearings, it sounds pretty logical to me. Anyone run it, for how long and how is it working out?

you can run pre mix if you want to and it'll be just fine. Unless your absolutely trying to shed every possible pound why bother removing the injection system though?

I dono i been riding the 440 race sled and premix, got used to it and would just like to keep doing premix now, not really sure why. But the engine is gona be mounted in that 440 race sled. Ive got a topic on the project in the general section.

you will be fine, the little bit of oil that goes through them lines doesnt even add up to anything. 99% of the oil goes to the carbs for mixing.

I did it a last year, the only bad thing is that my resivoir held enough oil for 3 tanks of gas, now i just have to carry oil with me.

I think ill start off with premix atleast, i might add the injection back on soon tho. It wont be hard with the way the pump is on these engines just bolt it on and go, dont have to block the pump shaft off. Also do i just plug the oil lines or should i put a oil line from one to the other? My 440 had a line from one to the other on it.

I doubt ill be making it anywhere anytime soon, be lucky to have a running sled to ride.

EDIT: Wait, waseca isnt very far from here. What will all be going on? what kinda races? Is there a thread on this event?

EDIT2: Just saw your thread on that, ill post there.

Just plug the oil lines. I ran a big block 600 on water all summer that way.

Would it be ok to run a line from one oil port to the other like my 440 did? Then i could just use the oil lines that were on the injection.

I see it was also a 98, i assume it was like mine and had the fuel pump that mixed oil in the gas before it went to the carbs just like my 700. What did you do about that? Did you get another pump? I have another pump for the 700 that doesnt use the oil mix thing, so im just making sure thats fine.

I just plugged the line that came from the fuel pump.

Now I'm trying to set it all back up for winter and quickly developing a hatred for oil injection Good thing this it isn't my primary sled.
