I had some engine troubles and haven't ridden in two weeks due to engine trouble. However, I finally got my engine fixed but noticed that one of my registration stickers fell off.
I just put it on this year so I won't be getting new ones until 2011.
-Will the secretary of state (or DMW for some) give me new stickers, and how do I go about it?
-Do I just play dumb if I get stopped (I still have one and I carry my papers)?
-I don't think this is a great idea but... Heat gun the one sticker off, photo copy it on same-color paper, laminate both to sheet aluminum and pop rivet them back on?
Thanks

if you still have one on the sled and your Reg.with you, you'll be fine, just tell the cop/dnr what happened---no big deal.

I got a warning last year from an DNR officer that my stickers were on the wrong spot on my sled. So this year I had to buy new ones, instead of paying the $23 for new ones she let me buy $5 ones that are only good for this season. If they won't replace them, try that route.

Does the DNR really make that big of a deal about where it is on a sled? I know they say to put it on the side of the hood but I would rather not get the sticky all over the hood. The previous owner had put them on the top edge of the belly pan.
You can see it in the pic here.. I highlighted where the sticker so you can see it.

I had one fall off before, never had any problems from the DNR.
If you still have one, and carry the paper work, then you should be fine. I think as long as you aren't doing anything illegal (drinking, riding where you aren't supposed to) the DNR shouldn't have a problem. i does give them a reason to pull you over though.

I would at least make sure that the registration sticker was on the left side(as you are sitting on the sled) of your snowmobile. That way, if you pass the DNR on the trail, they will see your registration.
Also, in my opinion, the registration sticker will stick to your hood better than your pan all the time.

Last year we got our stickers right before we headed to Gaylord. I cant remember why, but we didnt put the sticker on my sled. I think it was because we were afraid that it wouldnt stick becuase it was cold, and we didnt have time to mess with it. So dad put it in his tank bag so i wouldnt lose it and we rode on. We rode 1 day i think and were fine. The second day was when the cops were out. I was riding through Waters, and we had to cross a little road that lead to a building. I got up to the road, look both ways, and see a cop with his lights on heading towards me. He stopped me because i didnt have the sticker on my sled, but they were on the other sleds. Dad had noticed we werent behind him so he came back. We explained to the cop why we didnt have it on, but that we did have the registraiton and the sticker with us. He said he understood, and told us to be safe just put the sticker on. So we put it on, he left, and we went on. I think as long as you have the sticker, and the cop isnt a prick you should be ok. We were just worried about it falling off and being in the same boat as you.

The problem is that it fell off the left side. (probably becuase I was practicing carving in deep stuff when we had it). I will try to swing by the secretary of state if I get a chance but I hate having to wait in line, especially if they want more money too!

mackinsaw Thinks it's mighty convient for the neighbor to wait untill there's snow on the ground and to ask me if I would do him a massive favour and cut his firewood for the winter for money as he is incapable. Dang I got some work cut out for the next few days.

I did that to. By the time I bought my sticker it was to cold out and I figured it would fall off so I just put it in my wallet and rode. But if you have one sticker, why would you even be concerned? You obviously bought the sticker..

This is an old picture from 2005. But as you can see I uaually put my trail permit on the bottom of the windshield and my registration on the bottom of the belly pan. I've been stopped and checked and haven't been told thats not the right spot.
As for an actual reply to your post. Go to the secretary of state they gave me a new one free of charge a couple years back. good luck!

Does anyone remember when snowmobiles had to have license plates? My cousin and i found one, but it has no date on it.

License plates on sled? I am glad they did away with that because it would be just about pointless. I don't know about everyone else, but the back of my sled gets packed with powder pretty good when I'm riding.
