Just wanted to get the word out about a dealership I bought my brand new sled from. Its MAXIM motorsports in Hobart Indiana. I paid cash for a new sled and they didn't even fill the oil up.It cost $40 for a gallon of oil to fill up. Its not the money issue its the fact that they should have filled my oil up, I understand not a full tank of gas(that was half) my owners manual states it came with a tool kit too and when i asked the sales manger(ADAM) where it was he said not in crate, not his problem! Like I said just trying to warn others about this place so you don't get @##@$@# like i did, they service polaris, yamaha, and ski-doo i wouldn't take my bike to them for service BE CAREFUL and happy riding

Sorry to hear that.I would say contact Polaris and explain the situation, might not help but it pays to go through the right channels.

Little off here, but my wife bought a brand new motorcycle this past summer, the dealer said to cut cost they only put in enough gas to basically get you to a gas station, said it costs the dealers to much to fill every vehicle up with gas, then he burnt a rag to the exhaust. He did give me a 10$ can of cleaner to try to get it off, and when I stopped at the gas station the tank was full!!

I can see that this is your first brand new machine.
The oil bottles are never filled, just some in the bottom.
Fuel tanks normally have 2 to 2 1/2 gallons in them.
Coolant should be filled.
That's just how they come.

For the tools though, that is another story.
Those should have been there and all the guy should have to do is to order them in.

My sled came with full oil, gas, spare belt and 4 spare plugs. Have a friend that paid cash last year for a M8 and didnt get a spare belt, plugs and barely a splash of gas in the tank. Same dealer, different deals. You shouldnt have handed over any $$$ until you checked your sled over and it was to your liking. If it isnt on paper you dont get it.

The tool kit however is a different story. Give Polaris a call, maybe they will send you one.

and you have your caps lock on why?

I'm just speaking from my own experience.
Most shops don't add the extra liquids unless they have to to get the sale. It's just plain expensive for them to do this to every sled they sell.
Think about it, at $40 a gallon with each sled needing 1/2 to 3/4 gallon, times the # of sleds sold per year, = the pay cut that you are asking the owner to take.
He simply may not be able to in this economy.

If this was so important to you,
then the responsibility to check it out before accepting the sled is yours.

The tools though, they are part of the sled deal as they are listed in your paperwork.
No excuse there.

I don't think you are going to get far with the fuel and oil issue. But on the missing tool kit, I think you should type a letter to Polaris Corporation explaining the situation and send along a copy of your purchase agreement. Just politely ask them if they could please send you the missing tool kit. Often times a letter gets more attention than a phone call.

My new sled only came with a little bit of oil in the tank and a little bit of gas. They told me to fill it up before I ran it. No spare belt or plugs, no cover or trail permit. I'm sure if you like to haggle you can get them to top it off for you. I was able to get a 50% discount on the cover, spare belt/plugs and a gallon of oil. I really didn't think it was that big of a deal with it not being full.

Bottom line is, you pay for the oil/gas/plugs/belt/cover etc..... even if they say they are throwing it in, your paying for it. They arent in business to lose money and give things away. Its a ploy that makes us feel better bout the purchase, nothing more nothing less.

Noting in life is free.

I think each dealership is unique in how they sell their machines. When I bought my wifes new Ski Doo 2 seasons ago, they had all fluids filled, plugs, belt, but no cover. I fully understood all of this prior to the sale. I think the bottom line is good communication or lack of good communication. In my line of work, I see that most problems are caused by a lack of communication. Accordingly, most problems may also be prevented with good communication up front.

Very good point Rvanmeet.....but I bet they would have knocked some bucks off if you told them to NOT put any of that extra stuff on there.

Hence the reason I say nothing is free.

But I think your 100% correct on the communication.

However if I picked up my last 3 new sleds and there wasnt oil, I would be ticked - kinda crucial on the 4stroke :)

Ya, I should have specified about the tool kit, the fluids I would say are different story, although the new sleds I got have been filled with fluids, from dealers in WI and WY.
