Looking at picking up a 2006 RMK 900. Someone told me however, that in '05 and '06 the 900s had some major flaws with the motors, and it would require a decent amount of work and money to get the thing to run properly. They couldn't seem to tell me exactly what it was though. Herd it from a friend of a friend type of deal. Anybody actually know? Thanks.

It wouldn't cost you anything. All of the flaws the 900's had would be taken care of by polaris. Once they are fixed however, they still aren't the greatest. Turning and vibration and a few other issues still need attention. New spindles and skis would take care of the steering. I know this because I have a friend who replaced his spindles with an SLP kit and put 08' skis on his. Steers great now. The vibration is something you'd have to get used to.

woodbooga: (WOOD-boog-ah), n. regional dialect, common to areas of New Hampshire and Maine including the towns of Ossipee, Alton, Farmington, Acton, and Lebanon; one who attempts to obtain free firewood to fuel woodburning appliances in an effort to mitigate expenses related to home heating with fossil fuels. Frequently used as a term of derision by non-woodburners who mock the presence of loose bark and other wood waste in the beds of their pickup trucks.

Hit the Fusion thread for sure. Most of it is hyped up but you will need to change a few things. The vibration seems to be exaggerated by many and there are mounts out there that many have been pleased with that help reduce it. If your into tinkering a bit you could easily get a 900 for a great price and do the mods, after you'll have one hell of a sled for the money.

Buy the sled, anyone tells you that the 900 is a pile, is full of crap themselves!! I got a buddy who just picked up his 3rd fusion 900, yep that's just about 2700 cc's of Poo power!! Put a decent clutch kit on the sled, replace the torque stop, make sure Poo did all the updates, and go and and whip some A$$!! Haven't read the 900 thread yet, but I know Poo had different pistons in the motor for sure

I have 05 900 and the vibration goes away after you get moving and so you won't even no it is there.
Go to the fusion owners thread and read through it . info from first hand owners. They do have heavy steering to the average rider but if you adjust the suspension to your riding style you will be all set.
