Ok.... So i my friend came over and he sad that they might start making triples again
because of the newer teqnology and lightweight desegin there going to be able to
pull off a stock triple around 200Horsepower stock. He showed me the magazine and
i was so suprised i went and showed my step dad and he couldnt believe it either.
Im not sure what brand is going to make it but the magazine said that theres a possibility
of Triples coming out again, And yes 2 stroke.. Did anybody else hear about this? What
do you guys think?

Other than Yamaha, triples arent back and will likely never be. The move from triples to twins has made to control cost. Twins are less expensive to manufacture than triples.
Just because some engine tuner writes an article speculating about future engine technology, that doesnt mean its going to happen.

Another one of these "my friends dads brothers wife knows such and such and showed a scribble on a napkin so it must be true" threads. ACEXLT - that was a good article with some valid points, I do remember reading it a while ago, can't remember which magazine though. Maybe the next move will be to run boxer type twins to help with the vibration and component life?

I remember reading that article and it was very good. But sled makers arent in the business of making what we want. They make what makes them the most $$$. I personally wouldnt want another triple, since they just arent for me. But a lot of people do like them and it would be cool if someone made something to please them. I mean all us twin lovers get what we want so why not help out the triple lovers too. Im sure theres a market for a 2010 XCR 1000 triple, Thundercat 1000 triple, and Mach Z 1000 triple, all in the best available chassis. We dont need an entire lineup of triples but a big bore triple with todays fuel injection systems should make the lake racers smile.

True it costs more to to produce a triple than a twin, but I would think it costs even more to build a 4-stroke turbo and some manufacturers are doing it??

Threads like this one give polaris1 nightmares!! The thought of high HP triples screaming around his house in an IQ chassis would put polaris1 in the looney bin!! LOL
Octane is right, I doubt we'll ever see another factory triple, that would force Polaris to admit it made a HUGE mistake!!

I wouldnt mind another triple preferably a Genisis 1800cc VEP would be nice to put in a Polaris and a turbo or supercharger of some sort to really get the HP higher

whats real funny is you will get a ton of young idiots from this site that have never ridden a well setup triple, all they know is what they read in some mag about new sleds being better or raced a buddys old triple and beat it. but they have never trail rode 180 hp at 12mpg. if everyone did get a chance they would not have an 800 twin in the lineup.

Funny you say that, I own 2 sleds, both 800, one a twin the other a triple. The twin is 10 years newer, has more HP, better fuel economy, less smoke, and yet has nowhere near the "HOLY $h!t, hold on for dear-life" factor...

The mileage issue is throttle flipper...
Since the triple is so good at grip and rip, it ends up with the flipper just pinned under my palm anywhere I can. (I already totalled the first sled that the triple was in)
The twin is in a much newer and nicer sled and doesn't have anywhere near the "holy sh!t, hold on!!!" factor, so it gets ridden quite a bit less harshly. Once it's paid off, that might be a little different.
However, running the same field near here the triple will hit 80, the twin will hit low-to-mid 70's.

The twins are missing a carb, that is why they have to run em so tight to keep up. My old XLT has 3 x 38mm carbs, for 114mm total, the twins, even running 44s, are at 88mm. How do you think that you will keep up missing a hole and a carb?
