Well the oil for my sled is 50 bucks a gallon. Or well the arctic cat brand is. I have a friend that has a pantara that has AVP like my sled, it has 6000 miles and all they have used it CITCO SUPER GUARD 2 STROKE. And he hasn't had a problem with it yet.
What my question is is that is this oil ok? Or is it too cheap of a oil. Its 10 bucks or so a gallon.
Other question is what do you guys run and how much you pay for it?
Oil is too damn exspensive!

It's probably fine. Some people claim to run Wal-mart oil with no problems, so to each their own. If it's not designed for PV's though, it may gum them up quicker and require cleaning more often, just something to keep in mind.
I think the Cat oil is overpriced (or APV oil is). I run Amsoil Interceptor in mine. I picked up a case on sale last winter for $28/gal...I see now it's about $5 more this year even on sale. Once I run out of Interceptor, I plan on picking up a case of Klotz to try. From what I've seen, it's usually on par with Interceptor prices.

I use Cat APV oil and gladly pay the $65 a gallon. I had over 3000 miles and 3 yrs before I cleaned my valves and they were in great shape. Using cheap oil just isnt worth the risk for me and I like to support my dealer on stuff I have to buy anyways.

Get ahold of rick, he is a great guy with fast shipping. It is $26 per gallon. He likes to sell it in 4 gallon cses as the shipping is cheaper but he will sell what ever quanity you want. He is in mn so the shipping is not long.
I run klotz in the valved sleds and in all of my 2 stroke stuff(chainsaws, weed eater, leave blower, tiller) I love the smell.
In my non valved engines I use citgo sea and snow. It works well as it is the same stuff as yamaha's 2s. Only difference is the color.

Yea walmart oil is fine, I just dont want to spend $65 bucks. I dont think it makes a difference except that the cat oil is scented. IMO.

Jeeze, I'm glad the sleds that I own personally don't have power valves. $65 for oil, yeah right. My bro and my dad run Interceptor, even that costs alot.

Me to. We run Citgo Sea and Snow in our 4 sleds. We had 3 jugs in the trailer, and the tags on them say 6.78. We get them cheap in the spring. My brothers buddy runs some Cat oil in his 440 Jag, and its like 32 bucks a jug.

I pay $25 a gallon for Yamalube 2S, around the same for Cat 50:1. Can't find Citgo S&S anywhere. I did just buy a gallon of Amsoil HP for $30 and will probably switch to that once I use the other oil up.

My Cat dealer recommended that I use Blue Marble. I have been using it for two years with no problems. As I recall it was cheaper than the Car oil.

I run Cat APV it's 39.95/gal out my way, amsoil or klotz is usually 35-45, so I can't complain about the price. Plus the APV burns clean. I run CAT 50:1 in my ZR580, and it's on 6000miles. I drive all Ford cars & trucks and only use Motorcraft oils. If I rode a Polaris I'd use Polaris oil, just the way I am, for a few extra bucks it's worth knowing that you don't have to worry about it.

My family runs Arctic blue synthetic you can usually get it on sale for around $14.00 a gallon at fleet farm. I have 5,000 miles on this sled and 8,000 on my last one with no problems.

You are going to base the quality of an oil by the price tag ???
Citgo Sea and snow is Jaso FD certified...the HIGHEST 2 cycle rating at this time.....
If it was a cheap oil...I don't think it would be certified.

I totally agree- run the good stuff! Your sled will perform as good as it's maintained- that includes good quality gas and oil. Also, I find it interesting how many people with older sleds without power valves think they can get by with whatever cheapo oil they can find- it still has rings and bearings doesn't it?? I would be more concerned about keeping my crank bearings happy than dirty valves. For me that means synthetic all the way!

Just because it is $15 a gallon you think it is cheap huh, explain that logic to me.
Citgo s&s is the exact same formula other than a color change as Yamalube 2s. Ask anyone about yamalube. You can't go wrong with this oil.

Only issue with a synthetic oil is it doesn't have as good/many of rust inhibators as dino oil.
Talk to dan ant indyspecaltys, He doesn't want anyone using his cranks to use synthetic oils.
He was talking about giving a lifetime waranty on his cranks if he could prove if you used syn or dino oil.
