Lately I've been getting a lot of wind blowing through my goggles, causing my eyes to teer up which is obviously dangerous.
Everyone I know with a modular helmet loves them. Most of them like to smoke and that's what they enjoy about them. Well, I don't smoke and am curious about how they actually perform. I saw a chick on the trail yesterday with one and hers had a pilots mask that directed your breath straight down. I have to say, that's the most logical way to do it IMO.
So are these things fog proof? If not how cold can it get before they fog?
Do I need to spend 350 on a ski-doo one, or is there a good aftermarket brand out there??
I really love my SX helmets but as I stated before, the goggle issue has been a problem for some reason this year.

This helmet looks like it has all the bells and whistles. What company makes it. I wonder if say, Bell made it I could just get a plain black one from them a lot cheaper.

i bought a Polaris brand one (i ride polaris) and i love it, ive ridden in -9 degree weather and it wasnt fogging at all, i always wear a balaclava underneath mine. The built in sunglasses work great when the suns in your eyes. I also bought mine for about $200 shipped on e-bay.
My girlfriend also has the same helmet and she loves it, she gets very cold VERY quick and in this helmet she hasnt got cold yet.
Hope this helps.

dont get a choko. I bought one with a leftover f8 recently, I find it to be cheaply made and the mechanism to open the face is flimsy.

I have a CKX modular helmet with a flip down sun shield. Works very well for the price. Over here they are about $180, so i would imagine you could pick them up a little cheaper. Also it is matte white so it would go great with your Dragon. . The mechanism for the sun shield is my only complaint because it broke after about 4 or 5 rides but they are very easy to replace and this one has lasted alot longer!

Before I continue, if I don't keep this sled for the whole season, I promise to never sign on to Snowmobile Fanatics again.

I have 509's, and two pairs of turbo flows...
There not the worst thing in the world, but it would be nice to have the full face for when riding with my wife. We like using the communicator.

I have an Arctic Cat modular that I got at Hay Days 3 years ago. It directs the breath straight down. It works fine, but the breath with the moisture freezes to the front of my jacket looking like ice balls. I love it, do not get cold and it is warm.
My wife has the Doo modular helmet. This has got to be the best modular helmet on the market in my opinion. It is warm, never fogs, and has the built in sun visor. I would recommend this helmet to anyone! Again, look at Hay Days for these and you can get one for a steal. My friend recently bought one from a Ski Doo dealer for around $260.
Good luck.

my helmet that I have now fell apart, and I've been looking for a new helmet for about a month. I decided looking into the modular becasue it looks so handy. Last week I ordered the exact one you linked from the doo dealer here. It will be in this week, I will ride with it this weekend and post how I feel about it next week (if I remember).
A friend of mine has one of the first modulars made, he says the coldest he has rode with it is like -30C, he said it was plenty warm and he never fogs, He says they are perfect for people with glasses, the only downside is when your riding for a long time, and then lift the top, the nose part tends to freeze and becasue its rubber, it can crack and cause issues.
I asked 3 people that we ride with who had the cheap modular version what they thought. They all said that it was the worst helmet they ever owned and that they should have paid for the real deal.
The one you posted comes in many many colors, I would say go to your local skidoo dealer and see what they got.

I have an HJC CL-MAX and I love it. I use it for the bike in the summer and for the sled in the winter.
Winter conversion consists of a double lense shield, breath box, and chin bar to allow for air exchange through the bottom. I rarely have any problems with fogging.

I bought one of these last year and has been a good helmet, but not great. It failed me this past week when it was -20 out. When it was above 0 I never had an issue. I think I paid $120.00 + Shipping. It I believe is a Polaris Pursuit M4. If the breath deflector was a better design I think it would be fine. I just ordered a new Polaris modular helmets today with the aviator-style mouthpiece with venturi vents for my wife and I and hope they work better. Granted it was damn cold and should have stayed home anyway. If this doesn't solve my issue I will be going to heated shields. Had to buy one for my wife cause if she isn't happy no one is. Nothing more frustrating than when you wife is PO'd about something.
