Here is MY first sled, '89 Yamaha Exciter, I had always wanted one ever since I was a little kid. Came across this a couple months ago for a decent price so I jumped on it.
The first two pictures are from yesterday's little jaunt
Here are a couple shortly after I picked her up
And one from my day out with a buddy's Polaris
Pros:
- fun as hell to rip around on
- fairly light to maneuver around
- quite quick
- cheap on insurance
- looks badass (at least I think so :)
Cons:
- BRUTAL on gas
- still trying to figure out a bogging issue
- not the most comfortable ride
- DOES NOT like deeper powder
[1998 Arctic Cat zr600] * Powermadd riser * 96 Woodies * Sno-stuff Can * Ripsaw * Fox clicker shocks * Modified Cobra windscreen * Fishbone tunnel supports
[2003 Polaris Pro-X 440] * V-Force 3 reeds * Studded * Walker-Evans all around

i love the lil triple laing down the 800 twins on the trail, i love no sway bar to tip the sled right over in the drifted in ditches, love the 13.5 firecat track under the polaris. love the fusion seat and tank, sit a lot taller and more comfy.
hate only having a 600 triple at the moment, I want my 1029 done. i want reverse, I want to finish my own air ride rear end i am sick of looking at drawing, I want to have a 146 cobra track under it. right now i hate the gas milage of the small 600 the big triple always got 10-14 mpg usually ran with the 800 dpm doos for milage.
I need a little taller windshield, when i sit and ride i cant tuck behind the shorty windshield.
nothing goes like 3 holes!!

07 Switchback 600 HO. Had some problems in the start but I got it dialed in and it runs great. IT is really good in the deep stuff and not bad on the trail. Love it

I'm almost 100% pleased with the sleds I have right now. If I had to bitch about anything I'd say that it could get better gas mileage. And MJ....I can't believe you don't have reverse. Especially since your boondocking so much. What year did cat start putting reverse on their sleds. I saw an F5 up north a couple weeks ago with reverse.
 800 Dragon
Yeah i think that guy must have had a reverse kit, which is understandable because they are only 400-450 for a reverse kit for the f series that arctic cat put out, now all f-5,f-6,f-7's are the race sled that arctic cat put out so it never had reverse build in unless custom ordered, or again reverse kit

+ it handles pretty well, pretty fast for a 600, not everyone has one
- sits to high, suspension is so/so, sucks it up in powder
Everything that I don't like about it will be cleared up this summer =)
Owning a race sled is like having a totally hot girlfriend..... All of your friends want to see it, feel it and check it out..... They all want to know what it is like to ride it, but if they only knew how much time and money it takes to keep one up, they would call you a fool!

Well i got a 2006 apex done up with the good stuff. lots of lightweight parts from complete front and rear light weight suspensions, seat, track, bar setup, skis. the whole 9 yards minus the turbo and aftermarket tunnel. I love my sled cause of the pure torque i wouldn;t even trade for my dads nytro, the only downside i can think of is that the steering is brutal due to a my setup which works better for climbing.. I can handle this sled better than any other sled and i've rode all the current mtn sleds from all 4 oems. I love the fact of how ppl doubt my sled cause of the weight and i can let it hang out all day long climbing chutes and tight trees and steep slopes. The only thing i want now is a turbo, 300hp would be just ideal so i can really giver at anything i see.
these are the most recent pics of my sled with the new camo extreme track and cr racing risers. this was from going sledding in BC on june 5th.
i ride where its steep n' deep :P
06 apex mtn
excell mtn lite exhaust, fox floats on the front, Timbersled lightweight drop brackets
mtn mod seat, timbersled barkbuster front and mtn tamer rear suspensions, simmons gen 2 skis
MMP freedom axle with (3) 9 in. blaze billet wheels,Gravity worx billet lefty throttle, Cr Racing 9" risers
162 2.5 Camo Xtreme track

I am very happy with the 2002 800 RMK. Engine rocks and the sled is very easy to do whatever comes to mind. Only thing I would like to improve is the seat. Would love a high rise seat for my style of riding.
Mods are Sly dog powder hound skis, SLP single pipe and mbrp race can. Slp high flow intake, clutched, Atacc system.

The only thing I hate about my ride is finding parts for an outdated chassis, Parts for an evolved chassis are really hard to come buy It would have been great if polaris kept the evolved for a couple more years than 4 years
1998 Polaris Indy 500 chassis with 98 Xc 600 motor
SLP ceramic coated pipe with SLP can
V-force reeds
4 inch pivot riser
Gutted Air Box
EPI clutch kit soon to be installed
Maybe some pro tapers
1998 XC 700 water-cross sled
SLP twin pipes
Some light weight parts
Water-cross mods include taking the parts u do not need
This includes removing the seat replacing gas tank and IFS bars.

The SNO PROwler
Pro's
Light, flickable, just a blast to ride!!
The TSL skid, and XCR front shock's made it a completely different sled.
Start's every time
Con's
7.2 gal gas tank (can only go about 80 mile's on a fill, when I'm keeping up with bigger sled's!)
The stock 11 plate chain is not really strong enough for the power the engine produce's, I replaced it with a 13 plate chain and have'nt had any more chain breakage's.
No Reverse
The EXT
Can't really say much about this one yet, bought it post season and have'nt had a chance to ride it yet.
I'm pretty certain I'm gonna love the Triple's power, and speed. (should'nt need as much thumb to keep up with Greasemonkey which mean's I should actually get better mileage on the Isabella ride.)
Probably gonna seriously dislike the Much higher weight!
I'll make a more complete report after putting some real mile's on it.

Here is mine 99 Vmax 600, something wrong with the clutching but other than that I love it, No reverse which bytes but it's got a lot of life left in it. I swapped out the suspension to a SC-3 so that takes care of the yamaterrible ride. bit heavy on gas but I think that is a clutchin

My 98ZL 500 has been a good sled to me. Does pretty well on gas consumption, has plenty of power for what I need, easy to get out of a stuck situation and has a decent suspension. Just wish it has reverse. The best part is that it is payed for. It will have to be good to me for a while for I have started college and it will take me a while to save up for a newer sled.

98 ZR 600 EFI
Pros: 1.5" track, twin pipes/EFI chip, clutched, geared, custom running boards and bumper, 8" riser w/ 440 bars
Cons: Narrow running boards (cut off right now), needs a touch more front end travel (will be upgrading front end next year), seat is low (will be doing mod seat for next year)
Overall great machine, quick, relatively light, and all of my issues with it are going to be taken care of. Like many of you I am a university student so can only spend money when I don't need it for bills/expenses.

1995 Polaris Starlite:
Pros:
Rare sled, not many people have one, turns heads on the trails.
Has alot of centimental value.
Very stable and solid.
Comfortable enough for me.
Always runs, no matter what.
Fuiji motor is bulletproof.
Cons:
Has a stupid system for a windsheild, it mounts on a bracket and they don't make the bracket anymore, and mines broken, so no windsheild means cold hands!
Very very hard to find parts for.
No speed, or power.
It's not what you drive, It's what drives you!
Pain is just weakness leaving the body!

2001 Polaris XCF SP 440 - Dad's

Does those Pipes make it burn up or are they fine with the EFI chip? because I am going to an EFI Cat next year Might be an F7 or might be a zr600 EFI like yours thanks for giving me an idea.

Two things I dont like about my sled are the metal skis and the fact that its a 340. Ill be upgrading this winter, but this is still my current sled.

141x2
136 skid with elkholm welded extensions
v-force 3
billit head
hot seat performance clutch
dyno port exhaust
led tail light
powermadd riser & throttle extension
simmons gen 1 flex skis
(im sure im missing somethings)
pros: love the sled and chassis, can throw it around anywhere i want, got it dirt cheap 3 years ago
did all the upgrades this past summer. the primer on the sled... that things starts anyday on the 1st or 2nd pull, no matter what the temp is.
cons: rough riding on the trail(but who rides them anyways), gas hog
my back up sled
got it for free, fun to run when not enough snow to take the other sled out...
