I barrowed my snowmobile to a buddy and his girlfriend added coolant to the oil! Then she drove it and I think the motor might have seized. She said it was riding fine when everything shut down. No loud noise it just stopped. They tried to restart it but the pull cord won’t budge. It’s a 04 cat F7 EFI but I have no idea what happened or what to do. Help.

I agree it sounds like the motor seized. Oil is heavyier than the coolant and most likely ran fine until the oil was used and it got to the coolant level. Hopefull you can get away with new pistions, rings and cyclinders.

What were the terms of the loan?

Do they have jobs?, time to set up a payment plan with them, or a advance on there c/c. Why would they add coolant anyways? Pull out the spark plugs and give it a pull see what comes out. Maybe the computer shut the sled down.

Actually, no...

When mixed together and allowed to stand, water molecules tend to
coalesce with themselves. Likewise, for the oil molecules. Since the water has a greater density than oil, the water settles to
the bottom leaving the oil on top.

It sucked water right away. It only got what oil was in the lines.

Pull the head off and give it a look, probably the only thing you can do at this point. You cant turn the primary over either can you? If not i would say just pull the head and give it a look to see how bad it is.

I know it is upsetting but I would refrain from making threats like that above. I am pretty sure you are only venting steam but in this day and age.....

Anyway, best of luck to you. I hope repairs are as simple as possible. Cheers.

Make them pay for it, no excuses.

The motor will need to be completely redone most likely. Crank bearings/seals, pistons, rings, etc., etc.

Pour some oil down each cylinder and let the oil sit for like 10 mins and then see if you can pull it over. Its possible that it just has a "light" seize. Try that and see where it goes

to get it un-seized i would put a little diesel down the cylinders if the oil dosent work and if that dosent work try coca cola that will get her un-seized.

That won't do the bearings in the bottom end of the motor any good if they're already cooked. Fix it the correct way and save money down the road.

Ok...so I pulled it apart. It only seized one pistion and I had to junk that jug. So I got a new jug, 2 new pistions and plugs. Drained all the coolant from the oil tank, the lines and the pump. Everything else seems perfect. It cost me 560 bucks total. Tonight I'm gona put it back together and hope thats the end of it.
