WTB Sled near Chicago

Hey all, I'm looking for an older sled in decent shape. I'm in Chicago but willing to travel to the Grand Rapids, MI area, and Madison or Milwaukee, WI areas.
I have a budget of around $1,000 and had a line on a 97 V-max with pretty low miles but it looks like it's probably going to be sold. My preference is a Yamaha but I'm open.
If I had more time I'd say broken is fine. However, I don't have time so it needs to be in running condition, lights, hot grips, etc working. I'm finding tons of Exciters under $1,000, Phazers and the like but just wanted to see if any forum members might have something good.
Feel free to PM me or just post here. I'm going to buy something on this Saturday 1/17/09...just trying to figure out if I'm driving to Michigan or Wisconsin on Saturday morning.

P.S. If you have a basket case you wanna dump I might be interested in that too if it happens to be where I'm headed on Saturday.

i have an 86 arctic cat cougar 500cc fan oil injected thats in pretty damn good shape and runs excellent. looking to get $650 for it but im willing to haggle a little bit. im in south eastern wi. track is in good shape and it is studded. has ski skins and newer carbides on it as well as new shocks put on it last year.it had a new coil stator and a used CDI box put on it in last year as well.drive shaft bearings,gears and chain were also replaced. it needs a speedo key put in but i have it already for it. if it would warm up outside ide put it in but i dont have a garage so ide have to work out in the cold. this sled starts on first or second pull EVERYTIME even after sitting for weeks. (has a primer as well as choke)also comes with a service manual.49xx miles hand and thumb warmers. let me know.

Check out www.craigslist.com for your area. Thanks for the advice...CL is the only place other than my posting here that I'm looking, a little bit on eBay but not time for auction B.S., going sled hunting on Saturday and will come home with one. Just missed out on a very very nice V-Max on CL that was a pretty good deal. But a lot of people on CL who think there thirteen year old sled with a ripped seat and minor scrapes and dents is worth $1,700!

Budget got moved up...now I've got around $2,100 to spend...going looking tonight (Friday, January 16) in northwest Indiana.
