i bought a 2007 phazer fx with 400 miles last year for 4500 dollars. last year i got about 2000 miles in on it and then something poped and it wouldnt go up hills or over 7000 rpms(or like 15 mph)so i brought it in to my local dealer, and find out that my whole secondary,A-arm bracket, spindles, spindle mounts, and one of my rear shocks are all broke.this would have cost me $2500 if warentee wouldnt have covered it. so that took me out for the rest of the season.

this year i get about 2 weeks into riding and my chain starts "ratcheting" so i turn my secondary to see how loose my chain is,it turns about a quarter of a full revolution! so i tighten it and go out and ride for about 5 minutes when i hear it ratcheting again,i find out that my chain, bearings, and sprockets are totally shot.

so this has made me totally lose any intrest in snowmobiling.im selling that POS and getting a car.

Yamaha sleds are usually very reliable machines, i agree with the lemon theory. Unless you're a pro freestyle rider who's ridden the crap out of it, you should talk to your dealer and see what your options are. The sled shouldn't go kaboom every year.

Ah, the wonders of nature... Too bad they're blurred when i go past them! =)

Man, I wish the Polaris I used to have was problem free......

I've spent quite a bit of time over at TY reading up on Phazers for the last 2 years, and I don't recall ever hearing of such major system failure, especially one right after the other. I'd agree that it seems like you've got a lemon on your hands. Work with your dealer, and see what they can get Yamaha to do for you.

ya sounds like you got a lemon. $4500 sounds like a deal for a one year old sled. he may have had issues when he sold it. but dont give up i have a 92 440 (polaris) that has had minimual problems. pick another sled and your view will change.

Beer FTW

And +1 to what was said earlier: sounds like you got a sled that just isn't interested in running correctly. As with any manufactured mechanical device, there is always the chance of this happening.

Don't let it ruin a whole sport for you.

Think of it this way (once you fix EVERY part in it....then...well it will break again. lol I am not that hype up on owning a sled either good for ice fishing though)

ps we all have these problems, sleds are work...you know like owning a child...only a kid cant carry you threw snow.

If you cant fix it with duct tape, tylnol, or band aids your screwed.

Being in the business more than 25 yrs has led me to one conclusion. 90% of sled failures are maintenance related. You said you rode it 2000 miles. Did you change chaincase oil? If the chain is not an auto tightening system, it needs to be adjusted regularly. Sleds are constant work, new or used. Any type of playtoy is work. Why warranty covered A-Arms, spindles or shocks is beyond me as these seem to be abuse issues. Jumping, racing and crashing are not warranty. Please don't take this wrong, I have no idea the whole story, so what caused these failures you have not told me, but suspension breakage sounds like really rough riding. Again, maintenance is crucial. Inspection of the sled after every ride is a must so you can catch these things before they multiply into giant problems. And I don't care who makes the sled, they ALL break. I'm sorry you hate sledding. Try racing cars, then you will hate those also, Dale Koven

true .. this sport is the worst sport to be in ..for maintenance... think about it the sled is in every element .. warms days... corrosion, bearing surounding by water at all times... if you like to save money .. get a street bike... or a road runner
