Hey guy's, I'm actually just shy of 7,000 miles, about 15 miles shy. I'll put that on in the fields behind my house. I'm thinking because they've never been changed that the stock springs are probably a little weak by now and the whole clutch system could use a freshening up.
I'm looking for popular clutch set up's for the XCR's. I've had good luck with the stock set up so far, but a buddy just rebuilt his on his Viper and stepped it up a notch and he was raving about it all weekend. Any help would be great. Looking for a set up that works for "agressive trail riding"
Thanks!

Rebuild that primary and put a fresh almond round. 62g on the front.Rear is pretty close stock. Put in fresh brown buttons and silver blue spring. Then try it. Helix really depends on traction and style. I tend to preffer the daltons. Anything more than a 52 start and intial traction cana be a problem.
You'll see some top end come back.
Good luck

So, with the exception of changing the Almond Square to Almond round in the primary, the stock set-up seems to work best?? Forgive me for being ingnorant, I am totally new to messing around with the clutcing. What will I notice by changing the almond springs out?
Just wondering if there were any popular clutching swaps XCR guy's were doing.

Also, I went to High Performance Engineering website. I am looking at 2 different parts for the weights you suggested. 10-62 & 10-62m, do you know what the difference is? Which one should I be ordering?
Thanks alot.

Taken from another forum "The heel is cut .010-.020 to let the weight sit lower in the clutch. This raises the engagement several hundred rpm. The heel is the bottom of the weight below and just forward of the bolt hole, this rest's on the stop in the clutch. " "should have to reshim the clutch to get your .020 gap with the 62m's. "
Plain 62's is what I'd reccommend for a stock mill.
The stock almond square sacks out early. You'll see full shift out and maintian rpm. Draw a line onthe clutches with a felt tip marker or sharpie from the center out to the edge. Run it and you'll see where the belt will ride up in the clutches.
Also look for the play in the spider( look at the towers) the clutch is not effient when binding
What are you running for a track and studs? were is your rss/fss in the xtra 10 set?
Make the changes one at a time, these are very close sotck.

So, you would not recomend doing anything different with the Helix? Unless its damaged of course?
