I have read some older posts, but want to make sure I do this correctly and not mess something up.

My sled idles at about 3800 rpms when hot, so I blip the choke and it drops to 1200-1600 rpms, but as soon as I shut the choke off it climbs back up. I know this is a very common problem when the pipe is hot, but I hate to have it running lean if that is what it is doing. My plugs look good so should I worry about it or just live with it? The sled gets about 25% better mileage than my friends that run 700's, but their's are set up very rich from factory and this thing seems to be set up perfect other than the idle. If I adjust the idle, will it affect other performance, and which screw would you adjust?

Those of you with experience with these please let me know what you would do to correct this or leave it as is.

Thanks!

try adjusting the white knob screws out 1/4 turn. We have one that the screws are out 2.5 turns.

woodbooga: (WOOD-boog-ah), n. regional dialect, common to areas of New Hampshire and Maine including the towns of Ossipee, Alton, Farmington, Acton, and Lebanon; one who attempts to obtain free firewood to fuel woodburning appliances in an effort to mitigate expenses related to home heating with fossil fuels. Frequently used as a term of derision by non-woodburners who mock the presence of loose bark and other wood waste in the beds of their pickup trucks.

Will that just affect the idle, or how the sled performs all the time? By turning them out, does that make it run leaner or more rich? I think I need to be more rich at idle, but would prefer to stay were I am at while running the sled.

Thanks!

It will only effect the idle issue. Some machines need more fuel some less. It is more of what your machine needs.

Sorry for the slow reply. I actually made it about 1/4 turn richer, and it quiets down after only about 5 seconds instead of about 45 seconds. Thanks guys!
