My buddy runs an 00' Indy 500. When he hits the hi-beam switch the headlights cut out completly leaving him in the dark. When he clicks it again the lows come back on fine. Does this sound like the two bulbs blew out simultaneously or could it be something deeper? As far ad we know the bulbs have never been replaced before. He has owned the sled for four or five years now. Previous owner was Iggy from this forum...

could be some faulty wiring. like the whole high beam wires were melted or cut some how. ive had it happen before where the wires got pinched for many years of opening the hood, etc. and it sheared the wires eventually

put at volt meter or test light to the low and hi beam wires that will tell you right away. also you can pull the bulbs and take a look at the elements to see if they are broke or not.. good luck

More than likely it is the high beam switch. I have two 01's with no low beams the switch was not making contact for the low position. The contacts are on a spring and the grease for the contacts gets hard so the contacts don't make with the plate. once they star to stick the contacts will arc and burn a little so they wont reach you have to shim out the contacts or replace the switch ( $105) or by-pass that switch altogether. I hope this helps
