I have a 1989 Ski-Doo Formula MX 462 Rotax that just don't want to run for me!! I bought it about 2 weeks ago with not a problem i mean ran great the whole deal!! and the next day after we brought it home it wouldn't run any more!! we've got it to run once in 2 weeks!! i put new spark plugs in it, new air filter, filled the gas tank, filled anti-freeze, 3/4 full of oil and the thing just don't want to run! we pulled the carbs off and they are clean as a whistle!! So could ya help me out?? thanks
My sleds:

Do you have spark?
What is the compression?
Are the plugs wet?
Did you actually pull the carbs apart, or did you just take them off?
Fix it till its broke!

Are you having trouble getting to start?
Are you familiar with how the primer works? People not used to a primer, sometimes, have problems with them at first.
Three shots, pull till it fires, tap the gas lever for a second then give small half shots on the primer when the engine starts to die out. Half shots with a touch on the throttle right after will keep the engine going till it warms up.
Primers aren't like chokes. You need to feed a little extra fuel when the motor starts to die off. Sometimes the primer shot can add too much, so tap the throttle a hair to lean things out. You need to stay with the sled for the first minute or two until the motor is warm enough to maintain an idle on it's own.
It sounds like you bought it warmed up and rode it the first day, then had to do a cold start the next. If you prime three times and the motor starts then dies off right away do not prime three times again. If it is warm enough the intitial prime can flood the motor.
It takes practice.

if you flood the engine all you have to do is hold the throttle wide open (with your hand!)and then pull until it fires up mud make sure you let go of the throttle when it starts so it dosent take off

I just read your next post
It sounds like you are hydralic locked STOP!!!!! you can bend a rod.
Pull the plugs and with the fuel off and the kill switch off, pull it over untill the fuel mist clears up.
Reinstall plugs and try then to get it running (keeping in mind its still flooded).
And I would clean (the inside) of your carbs, when the fuel valve has crap in it, the fuel will leak directly into your engine.....hydralicly locking the engine
Fix it till its broke!

my grandfather taught me this trick...get a small plumbers torch, pull plugs out and heat the tips and threads until you feel the heat coming thru the insulators on your fingers,i mean heat not just a faint warm, keep turning plugs as you heat them then install them as you heat them,2 full primes and feather the throttle as the head warms up,Remember this is from a cold start.keep me informed if this helped. After you have running, enjoy it but do not keep doing this, this is just a quick start for you to enjoy the sled, the priming is for you to learn
If you haven't broke it,You aint riding it!!!

well i went out at about 8:00 (bout when we were all posting this) and primed it 3 times and she fired right off first pull!! got er' running good 5 minutes and she slowly died (for got to keep priming it and she probably wasn't warmed up) then right after she died i grabbed the cord pulled er' and she fired back up again and so i shut er' off then 2 hours later went back out primed it 2 times pulled er' and first pull she fired right off again so i guess its working but this whole week end she's been in a 70 degree warm shed and she's stil in that shed but the shed is like 20 degreese right now cause it hasn't been heated since sunday!! idk if that makes a difference or not!! and it takes 2 people to open the big door so i couldn't actually ride er' but hopefully she'll just run fine now!! thanks guys!

So you know the sled runs. That isolates a lot of the possible problems.
Now you have to try using the primer in the cold. Prime 3X, start, be ready to give another half or full shot within five seconds. Stay with the sled giving small shots till she idles on her own. Be ready to tap the thottle if you give a full shot and the motor tries to die out.
Practice, practice.....
Good luck.

well i started her again last night at 10:30 so i tried her again today after school at around 4:30 and she started right off again and i reved it twice and it idled for like 3 miutes before i had to rev again so thats pretty good and the shed said on the temp gauge 10 degreese!!
Question:
so if i ride it to school at 7:30 in the morning and get out of school at 3:16 in the afternoon would i have to prime it at 3:16 when i get out of school??? and if i do have to prime it how many times???

Yes.
If the motor has time to cool down then you have to prime it three times again. Sometimes if it is half cooled down one prime is good enough. If the motor is still warm then you shouldn't need to prime it at all.
You'll get the hang of it.
3:16...... That's my favorite number.

i found out (cause we were priming it 3 times before i asked) and it was the gas!! i put in gas from like all the way last winter into it and thats what caused it not to run so i drained out all that old gas and put new in and now she runs like a champ!!

If you need to use starting fluid then something is wrong and needs to be corrected.
Starting fluid is a last resort measure. It's like lighting dynamite off in the cylinder.
