I was just wondering if anyone has ever thought of or has done this? I have been kicking this idea areound for a few years. I was thinking about how I could make a new custom belly pan and hood for my Indy Trail. I would make it alot skinnyer and some how lighter. This is just an idea I thought about putting out for discussion.

That would be very hard on your evolved chassis. How do you plan on molding the sides?

I have a few ideas, Somthing like the new phazer, how its molded closely to the engine with enought vent to keep the engine cool. The fron of my sled is held together by lots of rivits and zip ties, so I was thinking thier must be a way to make a whole new front clip.

trying to save weight on plastic?? lots of work for nothing, aluminum will get bent up and punctured way faster than plastic. harder to make a nicer fit than plastic.

Agreed on the weight but he is probably just looking for a project and like stated above wants a new way to hold the front of his sled together instead of zip ties and rivets.

you could take off the original pannels and try to bent one around that. Just take a sheet and try it. if you don't like it well scrap it and try again

i was thinking about using some small aluminum flat stock to make like a frame work and then put aluminum sheets for the body, I figure that could be light enought.
