Hey guys, just wondering the affects of putting your sled in a heated shed or garage after riding, i heard you can get condansation in your gas. When i come back from a ride a light a fire in the shed to get all the snow and ice off then let it die during the night.

I prefer to keep my sled in a cold shed, and I knock all the ice and snow off before each ride. Beats getting water in all the bushings and over the shed floor.

^The only time my sled gets the heated shop is when it's getting serviced, otherwise it's a wet/icy mess on the floor if I let the fire warm it up and then die down. Also, if your sled's in a heated shop you'd better let it warm up good before you take it out if there's too big of temperature jump.

you can really mess the computer up on fuel injected sleds if go from a warm garage, say 60 or so and then pull the sled outside to go for a ride were the temp is anywhere for below zero to 35-40 degrees out, and it does condensate the fuel, if your going to keep doing that i would put a couple ounces of dry gas in the gas tank.

I agree with the condensation issues, especially the electronics and MJay's point about bearings and bushings. Just putting it into an unheated garage warms the sled up. My vehicles always melt off ice and slush over night.

Wish my garage floor had a drain.

What are you getting for mileage on your Etec? How's oil consumption? Any other problems?

The only problems im having is the exhaust sensor blowing because of the can, and my dealer has got to be the worse dealer in all of ontario.

I always put mine in a cold shed, but that's what is available to me. I don't mind leaving my sled in a cold shed at all. The only thing that gets me is when you have to tear the sled apart in the cold shed, as I'm doing right now (low coolant = toasty motor).

Mine has been stored in our heated garage for 4 years now...never had any problems. The one thing is that if I ride, the sled stays outside until I am done riding for the day. That way when it does come inside, it has plenty of time to fully thaw and dry off. It also seems I usually have some sort of repair to do after riding, so working in a warm garage is always nice too.

I put mine in a insulated garage. Not really heated, unless I go out there to work on it. No problems so far. Takes about 3 days for it to completely melt out. its about 45 in the garage I would say.

I sympathize with you. I don't have a warm spot to work on my sleds either. Even greasing them is a PITA. VTP.

I've always kept my sled in our heated shop. All 4 of our sleds go in there after we ride. Never had any problems with condensation, but I can see where its a possibility, but I've personally never had any problems. I love having it in 55 degrees, so nice for working on it! The heated floor works great for taking care of the melted off snow.

Same here mine normally goes into a heated garage after riding to thaw out or get fixed. Most of the time if im not going to be riding for a few days/weeks it sits along side my old mans. We both have never had a problem. Only thing i do is when loading it up i turn off the head and open up the door and let the sled run for a few min. That way the sled cools off and a little and the engine does not go from sucking in warm air to cold air when it hits the outside. Plus it allows me to get my stuff together while i wait for it to warm up a little.

Next year i will not be storing in a heated garage anymore, im 27 and old man is tired of the sled taking up his garage space. Rather i will be buying a used 4 place enclosed and using that which i also plan to heat constantly using a low consumption propane heater which when on low will hopefully keep it above 0 then turn it up if i need to work on the sled.

Think about it.... how many fuel injected CARS sit in heated garages over night? Many! The fuel doesnt condensate to an extreme for them, their fuel injection handles it just fine.

I see no issues with it, on a properly serviced and upkept machine. I dont have a floor drain in my garage or it would be heated more when I put the machines in it.

We have always kept our sleds in our heated garage. Prevents problems rather than making problems. It allows for all the built up snow and ice to melt off.

Since my dad built his shop this past fall, i always leave it in there after a ride and leave it in there for a few days when I'm not riding. Never had or noticed a problem when riding.

I keep mine in the garage (heated) but I don't have a drain. The morning after a day of riding it's usually completely thawed out and nice and dry. Then I have to squeegee that little spot. No biggie. It might just be me but I like to hit the entire sled with simple green too once it's dry. I'm pretty anal about my stuff. Plus when I go out to the garage to smoke it's nice to stare at sleds that look brand new rather than a dirty ass sled with 50 pounds of ice built up on the skid. It feels nice taking off every day with a clean dry sled.

I keep both of mine in a heated garage with no issues so far. To speed the melting up I have one of them small utility fans/blowers that I direct directly at the rear skid. I go our every half hour or so to vacuum the mess up with a shop vac.
