I know this has been beat to death, and I probably missed a thread somewhere where the answer is...lol

I am looking at putting in an extra 12 in my 91 Indy, I have access to the skid and all the front end parts...Is the skid swap possible and if so is there a thread or does someone have the measurements for this swap that I can get my hands on?

Again I know this has been on here alot, but if I can get the info on this swap my Kidneys will be greatly appreciative...LMAO

Just last week I put and xtra 12 into a 1990 440 sport.. I put the skid as high up in the tunnel as possible and it turned out great.. Rides much better the the stock suspension. By tucking it up in the tunnel I was able to keep the stock front end. Ended up raising the rear of the sled by only 3 inches.

If you want I can try to get the meausrements, but I know I got them on here somewhere..

Off the top of my head I want to say that the front mounts where 6 inches back from drive shaft, and then 23 inches center to center to second mount. I made my own front mounts 3x4 inches, and used 6 rivets on each to hold into place.

I also did an xtra 10 into my 94 xcr and I must say much happier with it. But the way I ride I need the 10. They way the sport gets road the 12 is fine.

Some exact measurements from that Sport with the xtra 12 would be great. I'll be helping so I'll be watching this thread as well.

Besides, it's my xtra 12 stuff

you need to cut and weld the steering loop on the 91 in order to install the extra12. I would also install the tunnel braces that they didn't use that year.

I'll be going up there this week to do some work on a doo so I'll take some measurements.

here is the measurements that I started with.

the front whole I want to say was 4.25 down instead of 5.375 and the rear around 4.5 inches down.. I will double check for you..

Good info. Thanks everyone. Looks like we might be better off sticking with the 8 or 10 front.

TJ all I need are the tierods and the shocks and we have the 10 front.
If you read Kuskos thread the only reasone he dropped the front so far was because he was using
a track with bigger than 3/4" lugs and he needed the clearance.

I suppose we're gonna have to pull everything out of the belly pan to opperate?

If so the Monday I get back I'll start pulling everything out.
