Now, i've thought about putting on an MBRP can on my sled, however i've heard if you change pipes, you have to redo clutching and get a new chip, with a can do i have that problem or can i just put it on and be fine without buying a new chip and everything? i have a 1999 zl 500.

eh, i'm going to save up for the can still, i'm just trying to decide...if i want a mbrp can, or if i want a rumble pack. i don't know. is there much of a diffrence? if not i'll just get the mbrp can, but if it's too loud i might go with the rumble pack instead. any opinions anyone?

Sno-Stuff rumblepacks are obnoxiously loud. Had one on my 00 Mxz 700 and it was just rediculous. The Mbrp race cans aren't much better. If anything, and if you are bound and determined to get a can go with the Mbrp trail can. Still a nice sounding but not over the top. Still i say save your money.

I agree with saving your money. I have ridden a sled that had a can and it was cool at first butafter awhile it got old and it was loud. Its like a truck running duel exaust and cherry bombs cool at first then annoying.

Straight from the Michigan snowmobile regulations.

Don't let that stop you from buying a can. A can is a great way to drop substantial weight and they sound sweet. I'd go with a rumble pack over the MBRP. The MBRP has a unique sound that I'm not as keen on. Rumble packs have a nice deep tone.
I've drove by cops more than once every time I've been in Michigan. NEVER gotten a ticket. When you see a cop just idle by him. You'll be fine.

Port your helmet, port the stocker, change your hearing aid battery. A can loses weight for sure and helpful, but most of them are abnoxiously loud at the same time. Only ones I use are the SLP Era 2007 quiet cans and they work great, especially the one with the SLP pipe.

You should also run a bead of silicon on the connection between the pipe and the can. Helps to seal it better and you don't lose as much power

jaws makes some sweet sounding cans also. and if they dont make a model for yours, ther is a "do it yourself" kit that comes with everything needed to make one fit yours. they are also cheaper.

You're talking about decibels. A decimal is a number like.. 0.02. A decibel is a measurement of power and sound. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DecibelCongratulations, you just learned something

Ya, whatever pops....the seriousness of a can on a sled is about equal to doing 56 in a 55 zone (which I bet you've done). Not to mention, it's just an equipment violation (IF THAT), not a moving violation. NOT A BIG DEAL!!! That's hardly illegal in my book.
