2000 indy trail touring 550 fan tops out at 60, and if you go past a certain point on the throttle, it bogs out and actually starts slow down. If you gun it, it doesn't go as good as it would if you accelerate slowly..
Whats up?

Sounds about right. Maybe you just have the only accurate speedo. Ive ridden the identical sled at work and thats about all they have. Even full throttle for 5mins doesnt help. I too noticed that the sled went about 2-3mph faster at 7/8ths throttle.

Maybe eh! haha. Yeah its only a 550 and its hauling a 2up and a longer track, could have different clutching and geering also.

Think a boost bottle would help?

It just seems to me like a nice, brand new sled- only has 1650 miles- should be able to do better...

Sounds like you have a jetting issue. I'm no carb expert by any means, but it shouldn't bog at WOT. I agree with Jerkyking--it should do around 70-75 top speed.

Yea my dad has almost the exact same sled, except its not a touring. Its really jumpy on the low end but like you said when you open it up it just don't go.
When we first got it we adjusted the needles to lean it out. It ran good for about 40 miles, then it burned the motor up. I guess 60 is all that thing is mean't to do.
My dads 1999 powder special 500 will do circles around the polaris.
