Hey guys and gals, I have posted on here before about this sled, and I seem to get it going for a few days, then she dies again. Well I have my $500 RXL that is a lot of fun when it runs, but more often than not it is a lawn ornament. I have good battery (new & tested), new fuel lines & filters, new battery ground cable, and so on. What happens is that I get no fuel at all right now, but sometimes the pump will go. If I direct power, the pump works, but no injectors. I can spray fuel in throttle bodies, and she fires up first pull until fuel burns off. When it is running like that, all lights/guages work, so I am not thinking anything in magneto. I can't get it to throw a code though, even unplugging TPS does not bring up anything, so it seems that the computer does not get power. I should mention that yesterday I unhooked the kill switch & speed control assurance wires, and she fired right up. I revved it up, was running great, shut it off to put everything back together, and then nothing. I took the airbox back off, disconnected with kill switch again, but still nothing. I have looked over every connection I see, and all seem good. I checked that I have power at pin 18 (R/Y wire) on the computer as it seems to be main power for fuel, and it is good. Strangely enough, when I went out this morning, first pull the fuel pump started going, but did not start, and now does not go again. Would anyone know a wire that I can direct connect power to that may wake the computer? I have switched the relays around, and I sure they are good, I get 2 clicks when I turn the key. I have tested in different spots to be sure i have ground where it should, and all seems good. I would assume it was computer, but then I would not imagine it would have started at all, so I am guessing bad power somewhere (thats why I ask to splice in power).
Any ideas on things to test would be great!
damn, i hope i get this running!

Did you go through and straighten out all the wiring issues you had back to the way the schematic I sent you. As recall there were a lot of problems in the harness due to the previous owner cutting and bypassing stuff.

Hi again, I still have not. My ignition is a little different setup. I would take a pic to post, but I can't seem to add pics on here. I have been trying different things with those wires, but no luck.

If you are interested I have a complete wiring harness from a 92 RXL that you could have cheap. Might be easier than trying to restore yours back to spec. Let me know

well i decided to take out all the relays, just to be sure, they all show as good (passing current when powered), so at least i can rule that out.
i may be interested, how much would you be looking for (including shipping)? i am really wanting to keep the cost down as soon i may just rule this as a lost cause and cut my losses, sell for what i can (i have about $700 in it already).
damn, i hope i get this running!

that's true, i really like it when it runs, but man i am getting cold out there working on it. i guess i would have more patience if i had a garage. i guess in worst case, i should be able to get my money back if i part it out, but i would rather ride it. my avatar is me on it just 3 days ago, damn i wanna do it again.

Do yourself a HUGE favour and get the stuff from sports915. You will never have any good luck and be chasing one problem after another until all the wiring is straightened out. Getting the harness from him will make it a lot simpler

Well, just wanted to update. I had a late night out in the cold testing wires. I have attached a schematic of my wiring system. All the coloured wires have been tested. I am sure CDI is good, based on my understanding that the sled won't run at all if it weren't (runs with gas poured in), but if i am wrong, someone please let me know. I have double checked, my ignition wires all go where they are supposed to. if anyone has ANY ideas, even if you think it may be dumb, please say it anyways, even a dumb little problem could be the one making it not work. I posted an ad on kijiji asking if any rxl owners in the area may let me test my comp on thier machine, so hopefully someone answers.
Thanks for the help thus far guys......

hey all, i just wanted to thank you for your help, but it seems i have managed to solve this on my own. the ecu chip was not firmly in place. someone had messed around with it before (breaking 2 pins), so i tried pushing down on it, she fired up first pull. so to solve the problem for now i have used some 1/4" rubber on top of the chip, then the rubber block on the cover compress's it to get good contact with the broken pins.
not sure if this forum will ever help anyone else, but i guess you never know. thanks again, and happy sledding!
damn, i hope i get this running!
