i was one of those kids who thought that i was invincible and that it would never happen to me it would happen to the other guy. but 3 years ago my life changed. i use to dirt bike every day with the group of kids on the same trails in the same fields but on june 27 2006 i had just gotten out of school 2 hours before for summer break i was riding in a field about 2 miles from my house surrounded by a river and the only way to get in was from the train tracks i was with a group of about 6 kids i went for my last lap around the field and then we were going to leave. well my friend steve dident hear me when i said i was going for a lap and he started to leave, i was coming up to a hill that i had to go down (it was a blind hill about 20 feet down) when i came over the top of the hill all i saw was steve about 10 feet in front of me first instinct hit the breaks and turn the bars well steve was on the left side of the trail and i was on my right and we ended up side swiping at about 30mph my right knee shattered on impact sending my tiba and fibula through the skin i passed out. when i woke up about 5 min later steve was screaming that his arm was broken. so my instinct was to get up and see what happened i tried to stand and i couldn't so i started to panic and started screaming (take into consideration i was 12 at the time) it took the police and firemen an hour and a half to get us to the ambulance i had been bleeding out for about a half hour before they even wrapped my knee i had lost 2/3 my blood the next day the doctor came into the hospital room and said that i had a chance of never walking again if my knee didn't heal right and that if i was in the field for another half hour i would have died. now im walking around with a 10 inch scar on my knee and 4 screws in it.

The same thing happened to two of my friends, but on sleds. It was dark and the lights were pointing in the air. They met at the top of a hill and hit head on. I don't know how, but it was dead on. Not an inch on either side of the sled. I took them to the hospital b/c one had a cacked knee and the other had a bad concusion and couldn't remeber a thing. I didn't really see it happen. I was turning around on the other side of the hill, and when I turned around i seen no lights. Right away I feared the worst. It was a scary scene coming over that hill. I have two pics in the crashes gallery titled 'Two friends head on crash.' I'm not sure how to put pics on the forum.

What happened to the suburban picture? It doest seem like anything is broken.

No back window on the Suburban and the sled is hanging off the trailer. Got a little gas happy and put the skis through the rear window!

My first sled. Tree @ 40 mph

Wrecked
Wrecked

My current sled. Culvert @ about 20 mph

I'm in my 2nd season without seriously breaking anything (knock on wood). I did barrel roll it coming off a snowdrift last season and smashed up my windshield, but nothing major.

Not so long ago, a deranged, ranting person's audience was limited to how many people happened to be on the same street. The Internet, however, has certainly allowed "crazy" to go global...

Here are my two friends and their sleds. Lucky to be walking if you ask me. They think they were doing at least 40mph each.

Yah its some pretty scary stuff. My friends were lucky to walk after that, but i seriously thought the injuries were worse when I rode over the hill. I jus froze. Like i said they are lucky to be walking.

no it wasnt stuck the pulleys were pulleys were off so bad it was pinching the belt it would walk away at a good pace when running .a friend just wiped out a new polaris up in canada he put a set of guanlet hand warmers on ,you know the kind that attaches with tie wraps ,he cut it hard coming out of a convience store and the wrap pulled over the throttle and he smacked a phone pole in front of an audience it was a total loss but no injury.

I didn't exactly dial the landing on this one

Lesson learned don't hop on a new sled for the first time, ride for 30 seconds and right away jump it 70ft.

dang deuce yeah those gauntlets work but ive seen that happen before to up in canada. my dad had a set of them and managed to try and turn a corner and wnet right over the top of the the corner and into a ditch. it was wicked.

and sedz your picture isnt working... and yeah that might not be the greatest idea lol. i seen a snowmobile case the front of a jump with its hood and do a front flip. i dont know if that makes and sense but my friend had hit about a 60ft kicker and nailed the brakes at take off. it threw his snowmobile forward to the where he was practically facing the ground. his hood hit the front of the landing and his snowmobile went ass over tea kettle and did a front flip. it actually landed on its skis but the hood was f**ked.

The company that owned the sled went with the general lee theme I had no say in it. I bailed off, sled nosedived and cartwheeled. Not what I had in mind for my first woodchip jump.
