I used to have a link to a site where you punched in
RPM's
gearing
drivers
possibly pitch(can't remember)
hit the calculate button,
and it gave you a potential top speed.
Thought someone from here gave me the link.

I have an excel file where you input your RPM, sprocket sizes, track pitch, driver teeth, and clutch ratio in order to output your theortical top speed...

Do a search for the snowmobile toolbar on this site. Download it and you'll have that tool and a few others as well.

Not to be a tard, but how do I do the search on the SF site. I don't see a search key within the site (My oversite?) and when I use the regular search I get everything that has snowmobile in it.
Thanks, from a puter iliterate old guy.

When you use the regular search click "match entire phrase" then it will look for both words not just one.

When you have a page open, look at the browser window on top. Click it once and it will highlight, then right click, a window will pop up you click on copy, then when you want to put the link in you right click then paste. Thats what works for me. On another site I can hyperlink, but don't know how to here.

I first one won't work for my 21/41 ratio.
The second works well, it says 91.53. Best I can get is 88.94 on gps so it's close.

What did you enter for numbers, I just did it with
21 top gear
41 bottom gear
8500 rpms
1.95 this is your calculated ratio
46.6 this is the 9 tooth drivers
93.4 this is your top speed

On the chart you will see the clutch ratio, I picked 1 to 1 since thats standard unless you are hitting overdrive. 1 to 1 with 9 t drivers and a 2.52 track pitch is 46.6 constant.

Did you get it to work??
If I did mine right my top speed should be 94.4 with 22-40, and if I were to ever hit OD, 114.

Got it to work, kinda odd that the 2 sites give different #'s.
I normally use the gearing chart that my master repair book has.

unless you have an aftermarket pipe saying you need to run at 8500 rpm you are over revving and not pulling your potential.
heres the formula: it looks complicated but is very accurate.
rpm/gr times sc/12 times 60/5280= mph at 1-1 clutch.
rpm is engine rpms
gr= chain case gear ratio
sc= drive sprocket circumference,ie; 9 tooth are 22.68 inches
/= divide by.
so dtmmil sled would look like this
8500 rpm /1.95=4358.9743
times 22.68=98861.537/12=8238.4614
times 60=494307.68/5280=93.62 mph at 1-1 shift ratio.

Ok, thanks madcow, but I just put the 8500 in for a number for xcr440, I use 8000 for mine, but why is the formula you use and the one posted show such a difference for top speed then?? Not that I am worried about it, just wondering.
On the one I put in 22-40, 8000, 1.81818181, and constant 46.6 it shows 94.4, with the 8500 it shows 100.
Ok, just did it with madcows formula and got the same as the program posted here.
