Today me and EMPT579 (Dan) decided to head north and travel new trails due to our usual lack of snow down here.
Dan picked me up here at 6:30 a.m. I was dragging as I got home just 6 hrs before from a friends wedding. We headed north on I-81. Snow was pretty crappy for an hour or so then started stacking up as expected. We got off in Parish and decided to unload at the Grist Mill and head out. I do not have a map of that area handy at the moment so I cannot say what trails.
I filled my oil tank and then we left Grist and headed south. We wanted to head east once we hit the lake. Our plan was to avoid the tug hill "bar loop" and traffic as we just wanted SNOW and smooth sailing. Somehow we got screwed up and ended up maybe 15 miles in the wrong direction. We seen two guys do the same thing and talked with them. We ended up seeing them all over for the next 80 miles or so.. neat and uncanny!
We ended up going down the side of Oneida lake on an old railroad bed. The groomer just went thru and we were the first tracks. Man that was a fast fun ride, about 15-20 miles worth? Anyways, we then headed north after we got to the east end of oneida lake to head towards Camden. We were hoping MDmaniac would be available but he was still in a pistol permit class. I managed to pick up some batteries at a gas station there so let the picture whoring begin.
This was by blossvale. Me and dan filled back up. We both went 61 miles on 5.3 gallons. 11.5 mpg from his twin ZR and my trip trip ZRT
Shortly after that we were within 1 mile of Mdmaniacs house. I recongnized the trails from the SF ride.
SF ride guys from 2008 remember this spot? Arcticsno's friends recoil broke here back then.
And some trail pictures as we headed towards camden
to be continued

I think this part is now in between camden and florence hill? There was an intersection of two trails that was untouched so of course I had to touch it . Never tried this on the ZRT before.. it was fun But of course... Dan had to have the camera in his hand for this whoops I was carving donuts. I managed to get many in and had a blast. Man was I tired!! This sled is not a feather. Dan didn't want snow in his vagina so he declined the opportunity.

This is where I must complain. We received many messages and online notes from people stating the quantity of snow up there was many feet. I am very disappointed. We spent 50 bucks in gas in our vehicle to get up there and back and the depth of the snow was disappointing. I mean come on, you can see in these pictures that more snow needs to fall in order to make your statements true Couldn't get passed the hard layer under the powder.. but you get the idea. The picture of me climbing out of the hole was a joke for those that didn't get it haha.

We then kept heading north towards redfield. We were very worried about this as dan read online that redfield club were down to one groomer because one was broken. But we weren't there yet so all smiles.
We then arrived at the Florence Hotel. Good food at a good price. I downed a 1/2 lb burger. I had to take a picture of the sign that was in there. True SF style.
We left there and headed towards redfield so we could circle back down towards Parish. This is when things went to hell quick. Bumps and whoops galore. This picture is one of the BETTER spots. I took a picture of the even worse spots that were sled swallowers but for some reason it is not on my card. We did about 20 miles at 15-20 mph. Total suck. My spleen was killing me. This picture does not show them well. About 1.5 feet tall every 2 feet. Then it went from 3 foot tall every 5 feet for 20 miles.
Finally we break out into a field and people had been going WIDE to get away from the bumps. Dan did the same. All of a sudden dan flips on his side and bails off the sled into the powder! WTF!?!? Of course. I whip out my camera like it is pistol firing shots.
Dan is getting a little pissed now. Yelling at me "Stop taking my picture! Help!!" I am laughing so hard I have tears. Turns out, someone before us hit a trail post and it was laying in the powder. It wedged itself in dans ski and track flipping his sled asap.

Looks like a great ride. It is one hell of a work out to toss around a ZRT, but boy is it fun.
As always, love reading the ride reports, good job!

There was no damage to the danmobile except to his ego from doing the dan-arctic-swan-dive. We continue on and I take the side of the road instead of the horrible trail. I missed a turn and turned around in multiple feet of DEEP powder. I just barely made it out. I was then thinking damn, this thing goes thru some powder! Never had it in this much. I went back and found dan and tried to turn around again. This time I was not so lucky. I stopped. DOH! Embarrassed childish pouting ensued Headed into a hole in the woods. Neat pic Deep enough snow?

We come across another groomer and Dan has a quick conversation with him about the redfield trails and what not. He gets some big THANKS from us and we are on our way continuing south to Parish. And of course. A problem. We are whipping right along and I notice a warning light is now on on my dash. I didn't even look to see what it was. Just assumed it was the temp light. I pull over and stop and some stranger behind me was "tailgating" and ALMOST drills me. He goes around me barely, and throws his hands in the air and peels off. I am just a little low on antifreeze so I start pushing snow into the fill hole. Dan is ahead of me somewhere but comes back and has water. It barely took any. A very nice kid named Clyde stopped and was offering to help in any way he could. Turns out he lives 1 mile away and said "Bring it to my dad, he can fix it and put antifreeze in it". But after just a touch of that bottle, it was full. I start it and close the hood only to see the light back on! The guys look at it after I put the hood down and say "Ummm Matt, that is your oil light". WTF. I guess I should have looked at WHAT light was on and not assumed! How in the hell I went thru an entire tank of oil in 140 miles is beyond me. I will have to figure that out this week. On the way to Clydes house I see the guy that almost hit me. He is with a friend on the side of the trail. He is motioning the jerk off motion and pointing at me. I stop and inform him why I pulled over and he said "OHH! No problem buddy! Sorry." and took another swig of his beer. We head down the trail to Clydes house and his dad is in the driveway. Clyde put in a touch of amsoil for me and I threw him a few bucks. Of course the light went out. Clydes dad has this polaris he built that has no belly pan, hood, or seat. He got it out to rip to show us. Crappy pic, I know. Cannot thank them enough. I told him to join up on SF. Seems like a decent kid for sure. If you read this post up Clyde. Just 10 miles later we are back at parish. The parking lot is thinning out. Looks like it is down to maybe 100 trucks and trailers to hold 400 sleds Uneventful ride back home and thats that. Hope everyone enjoyed reading the report as much as I enjoyed writing it. Till next time and happy trails to all!

I think your oil problem is about normal(well its acting the same as my powder extreme with the ZRT 600 trip trip). When that light comes on i believe you have enough oil for at least 1 more tank of fuel under normal conditions.
Its always nice to have people like Clyde out on the trails. The other guy has no excuses on the other hand.

^ True. Maybe it wasn't "empty". It was semi dark and hard to see. I will double check my settings and make sure everything is up to snuff.

Told you we had good snow!! We encountered those "redfield bumps" from the intersection in taberg till camden, it was baaaad. TC Riders was out grooming as usual and made the ride to 46 corners very smooth.
Sounds like you had fun, you made a really nice loop, the rail road tracks in constantia/cleveland/north bay are second to none when flat, thanks for postin up the mcconnellsville nice and easy, that is literatly a 7 minute ride from my place.

We had a really great time and this was the first time I was ever able to do the south loop. We dropped in Parish and went through Central Square and all along Oneida lake. Everything was great except for Redfield. I knew redfield was going to be bad because their website said - we have a groomer down and can't get to our trails. That section was pure hell (and I have only one spleen haha) The rest was awesome. And because we took "the trail less traveled" there were literally places where we did not get passed by another sled for 10 miles. It was great. Fortunately it was only that 15 or so mile section of Redfield that sucked.
The guy that was grooming from the Kasog Trailblazers (I'm talking to in the picture)was a great guy and I thanked him for all his work. Matt was "right behind me" so I signaled him and he stopped. After a few minutes and Matt was not there he asked me if I was riding with my wife. I laughed and said no, but someone that rides like it.
We had a great time, my ribs are sore from laughing - and maybe a little from getting tossed. I still can't believe that I was riding through the deep snow and got knocked off by that board. Scared the hell out of me and happened so quickly. I had no idea why I got tossed until we tried to roll the sled and Matt saw that the board was holding the sled over.
Many props to all the guys that were out grooming yesterday. All but Redfield was awesome!

I remember that spot where the stupid recoil loosened itself up! Glad it was close to Brendans.
Matt- If I lay my renegade over while carving, sometimes the oil light will come on for a couple miles. It is not low on oil at all when this happens.

i passed you guys yesterday it was some serious bumps
I'm really good freinds with the people who own the florence hotel I go there evry time I ride
did you go to 46 corners cause my camp is like a mile from there
the trails were a lot better today came across the groomer 3 times 1 time i the woods, that was fun (not)
Where did you see us! You should have flagged us down!
I have no idea what 46 corners is. Where is it?
Thanks for the comments everyone. Glad to see the work of these reports are interesting to others
I will make one of the carving pics my avatar .
I saw you right after a rode crossing might have been county rt 17 I was riding with family and freinds also i didn't relize it until you were gone
if you go from the Florence hotel and just go strait and you come to an inter section thats 46 corners and you would have passed my camp it had a rode sigh that said seven dwarf's
and i have a picture of the same spot going into the pines
empty a bag of skittles in the toilet and flush it;s like watching a 5 second nascar race
