I was just out there on saturday fishing. Didn't get a damn flag though. I am not sure on what pound line is best but I use 30# or 40# line and then I Just use a swivel and put a regular snell hook with a small leader on it, with a few weights. For bait you can use smelts, chubs, suckers, or probably even shiners. The fish are pretty big in sebago so don't be worried about using big bait. I used a chub on one of my traps that was as long as my hand and about half as wide. Some people say you catch the fish a foot off bottom and some say 8 feet below the ice. Where I was fishing(by the frye island ferry crossing) it was about 95 feet deep. I put my traps at 10 feet deep, about 30, about 50, and the last one was about a foot off bottom. I think any old type of jig rod would be good just put bigger line on it for sebago. For lures I think they use aero-planes(spelling?). When you drop them down they spin around and when you pick them up they spin around also.

Don't get discouraged if you don't a flag your first day. The fish in Sebago are big but you don't get them very often.

I use 30lb braid or rubber coated braid and then tie a 12" leader to that. We are normally going after northern pike so we need the leader.

I use frabill jigging combos. I like them the best.

For bait on the tip ups we use fat heads or the largest minnow they have usually about 4-6" long.

woodbooga: (WOOD-boog-ah), n. regional dialect, common to areas of New Hampshire and Maine including the towns of Ossipee, Alton, Farmington, Acton, and Lebanon; one who attempts to obtain free firewood to fuel woodburning appliances in an effort to mitigate expenses related to home heating with fossil fuels. Frequently used as a term of derision by non-woodburners who mock the presence of loose bark and other wood waste in the beds of their pickup trucks.
