ya gold blows, i got the cheapest white gold (hate yellow) band because sure enough its beat to hell after only 7 months lol. it looks like an egg and is pretty much dull except for a few stupid lookin shinny spots. i have already been told im getting a tungsten or titanium band for our anniversary so im not too worried about it.
just make sure you get one that you like, and that is comfortable on your finger, your gonna be stuck with it for a while.

I am actually looking for rings right now - wedding isn't until October but when the woman wants the big fancy schmancy wedding there is no time to wait around for this stuff. My head hurts just thinking about it and I agree NO GOLD. The titanium and tungsten rings are nice. I would just ruin anything that was fancy.

For you guys that are afraid they are going to wreck there ring... You only wear it when going out or stuff like that. I never wear mine at work or when working on stuff. I have seen what happens when you hook your ring on something. Not a pretty site to see a finger hnaging by the ring unattached to a hand...

I hate gold rings on guys. Sorry, to blingy for me.
My girl has stated that she doesn't care what I wear as long as I am happy with it.
I am anti-marriage anyways.

Yep, seen lots of pics of just that during many a safety training sessions. The term is "De-Gloved", the ring gets caught and removes all the meat from the bone.

The pics I saw were with the bone and skin pulled from the socket. I wore my ring to work 1 time. Was throwing sidewal forms around with gloves on and the ring hooked the form. I nerly went down with the form. Ring went it to my pocket and stayed at home after that.
This is not directed at anyone, just an observation and thoughts.
If your significate other is insecure about you not wearing the ring, she really needs to think about the relationship, because a person is going to cheat wether a ring is on a finger or not. You really need to trust each other.
I am liking this one.

A close friend of mine had a ring like the one above with the cable wrapped inside of it. He wore it for like a week after his wedding and ended up getting a new one because it real heavy and bulky compared to others and he said it was straight up uncomfortable to wear.
Any of the titanium and tungsten rings are nice. The ones with the carbon fiber inlays are cool but they are getting a little to common for me anymore. Too many people have those.

My wife's ring started out as a "plain jane" solitare from zales. Then the wedding band came from Jareds. It's had work done to it at one other place...can't remember the name. My point is, I'd stick to one store. Now everything we buy is from Jared's. Great service. Onsite repairs and customization, great quality, and HUGE selection.
LOL, Jared's. Might as well do your jewerly shopping at Walmart.

Its ok HONEY!
....but you will soon find out that there is a difference in being whipped and just plain keeping them happy! Hey you gotta do what you gotta do! jk.
I just can't see myself wearing a wedding band that looks like the tread of a bike tire. Although it is creative.

I will disagree with that! I shopped around for months before I proposed and I always ended up at Jareds. They had everything and were way nicer than everyone else. Jareds stuff was better than all the shops I went to in Philadelphia (steven singer, robbins diamonds...etc). And the ladies love Jareds. Lifetime guarantee too with anything you buy.

Sorry to jog an old thread but I did not want to clutter the forum with a duplicate.
I ordered her engagement ring tonight. Should be here by next week. Well, in PA.. I had it shipped there to avoid tax. It will be like 1.5-2 hrs south haha.. good reason to take a motorcycle ride!
Please, nobody post this on my facebook page or anything of course!
Oh and if anyone needs any diamond help.. I have learned more than most people should ever know.

Lol, i know how you feel on the diamond thing. I have been starting to shop around for a ring for the "wife" and have gotten quite the education on cut, clarity, grade, etc. Never imagined it was so involved. I knew diamond shopping was going to be a little learning curve for me but nothing like what it actually is.
Congrats by the way.

Quote originally posted by duck91 well congrats on getting that far Matt lol, smart move on shippin it out of state too. what did you end up getting? . Here it is It is white gold and has .30 weight of G-SI1 diamonds on the band. The center stone I ordered is G-SI1 also and is Ideal cut within the perfect percentages. Size is .64 carat. Total diamond weight is .94 carats. The idealscope of the diamond and loupe image are both beautiful and the scintillation of the rock will be amazing with the specs I have stayed within. I have done a TON of homework and have learned do NOT believe a jeweler, believe your engineering instinct. I have all the other specs here from the GIA report that fit my standards but I did not post them here as I do not want to bore you. The ring is being hand built as we speak.

Congratulations Matt, and good luck.
Sounds like you got the same education I did with diamond shopping. But I bought her ring locally because I wanted to establish a relationship with a local reputable jeweler. Plus I was able to talk him down to 2/3 of the total list price of the ring and rock together, then got more discounts on our wedding bands from the same place.
