    Hey guys i was wondering what age you have to be do be able to drive a snowmobile legally.

    Massachusetts laws are as followed.



    Age Restrictions

    No person under 14 years of age shall operate a recreation vehicle, except as provided below:
    A person who is 12 or 13 years of age may operate if directly supervised by a person 18 years of age or older.
    A person, who is 10 or 11 years of age, may operate if directly supervised by a person 18 years old or older and the vehicle is operated on land upon which the operator lives.
    A person under 14 years of age may operate in a sanctioned race, rally, or organized event, which has been approved by the appropriate local authority.
    Under no circumstances, may a person operate who is less than 10 years of age.
    No person under the age of 16 and years of age shall operate a recreation vehicle across a public way.

    so does that mean i have to get a snowmobile lisence if im not 16.

    In IL, you can obtain a snowmobile license if you take a safety course at age 12+ years old, I believe it is. Otherwise you can't drive legally until you have a valid Driver's license.

    Indy600x is correct. Unless you strictly ride on private land. Which you or your direct family owns or rents.

    In MN you can ride at 12 if you are accompanied by and adult and you have a Snowmobile Safety Certificate.

    B.C. is behind the times, no laws at all for sleds, no licences no madatory insurance. Some day the government will start sucking more money from us. BUt the stupid thing is that to operate my CANOE i have to have a boaters licence, makes sence hey?

    I started snowmobiling by myself when i was 6, with no problems at all, on public land, i never once put anyone else in danger by not having enough control of the snowmobile. (it was a 91 sno-scoot) So, personally, i think that as long as you are able to have proper control and be safe, it shouldn't matter how old you are. (btw, i'm in BC)
