Wauconda, IL. ~ You’ve seen it on ESPN Winter X games! Now the regions elite snocross novice & pro racers will converge this week on a brand new Northern Illinois Snocross track. Previously hosted in Twin Lakes Wisconsin, The Winter Thunder Challenge Snocross organization promises high flying aerial displays, jumps jolts and high speed runs on a man made snow track right in our own back yard!
The first full weekend of racing begins Saturday, January 7th & 8th. Racing will continue every weekend through March. The day’s events both Saturday and Sunday start with hot laps warm up at 9AM and a full racing schedule at 10AM and will continue into the late afternoon. “Wednesday Nights Under the Lights” provides a night of entertainment with the weekend racers “practice night”.
No snow? No problem! Its snowing daily at the Golf Farm! Located 2 miles north of Route 176 on Route 12- the Golf Farm 2100 N. Route 12 Wauconda is the new home to the Winter Thunder Challenge. Winter Thunder Challenge in the winter and outdoor golf in the summer, The Golf Farm hosts a full service inside bar and restaurant with an inside viewing area and game room. Aside from the warm and comfortable inside spectator viewing areas there is outside heated reviewing stands and a track bar that provides warm inside seating!
“February 25th & 26th will be our showcase race” say’s Deacon Kallish of the Golf Farm in Wauconda. “We are excited to be able to be host a WPSA Snocross Regional Tour and Race”. The World Power Sport Association is North Americas leading snowmobile-racing tour. The WPSA, the nations largest and most respected organizer and promoter of snowmobile racing on national and regional levels sanction the race.
“Competition, professionalism and a family atmosphere is a key part of our long term plan,” says Jay Stark of the WTC. “We are taking grassroots, regional Snocross racing to the next level, locally, in a family environment”
Seventeen levels of racing classes begin at the Junior level, ages 8-12, Junior ages 16-17, Sport 15 year and above, Open, Semi Pro- 16 Years and above & Legends 35 years and above. Racing is open to everyone!
