If I got one I have decided I would get a snowmobile crossing sign done about 1 1/2" square

If your tattoo artist is any good, you should be able to give him/her some ideas and they will hand draw something for you. The ones here are always willing to do that. Do some pic searches on the internet, print some out and tell them what you like about them and they can incorporate them together into something nice.

I will say that I thought about my tat for a long time before I put it on me. It's small, and not a lot of people see it. Once you have a design you should study it for a while and make sure it's something you really want.

I may be old-fashioned, but if something is going on my body permanently, I want to be positive I like it before I do it.

How big is this thing going to be?

Take whatever you come up with and put it on the wall in your room for 6 months, if you still like it after 6 months is up great, if not atleast you don't have to live with it. Thats what i did atleast.
