Arctic cat oil

I have a 2001 ZRT 600 with the variable exhaust ports, I was told that this requires a special type of oil, not the normal 50:1 synthetic. Is this true? My owners manual covers like 8 sleds and it does list a different oil. I think it was ZRS or something. and I think the model type is actually zrt 600 ATV. Of course a local shop near me said it requires the ATV oil if it has the variable exhaust ports. But he also argued with me that there is no such thing on a triple cylinder.
