1998 ZR500 ignition or firing issue

I only have about 1,500 miles on this sled. I have been out twice this winter and sled not running great. Good power over power band, but always ran poorly under power band. Going through a lot of plugs this year, 3 sets.
Last ride, I hit a jump and landed hard. About a ½ mile later I went to give some throttle to go and the sled backfired LOUD and died out. Could not start it again, changes plugs, added gas line treatment for water as I was taking in some powder. Finally got it going after about 40 pulls by pumping throttle, but only firing on one piston. At ½ throttle the sled would stall out. Got jut enough revs out of her to have it move backwards 2 inches before stalling. When I saw this I towed her home.
Any suggestions, I got a quote to fix this of over $1,000 plus transportation? I would like to take a shot at this myself.
Anything recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
